1967–68 Detroit Pistons Season
The 1967–68 NBA season was the Detroit Pistons' 20th season in the NBA and 11th season in the city of Detroit. The team played at Cobo Arena in Detroit. Expansion in the NBA, with new teams in San Diego and Seattle, forced the league to move to the deeper Eastern Conference. Still, Detroit improved significantly, finishing 40-42 (.488), 4th in the Eastern Division. The team advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 1963, losing in the division semi-finals to the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics 4–2. Detroit was led on the season by guard Dave Bing (27.1 ppg, 6.4 apg, NBA All-Star) and forward Dave DeBusschere (17.9 ppg, 13.5 rpg, NBA All-Star). Donnie Butcher
Donnis Butcher (February 8, 1936 – October 8, 2012), sometimes referred to as Donnie Butcher, was an American basketball player and coach. A 6'2" point guard and shooting guard from Pikeville College in Kentucky, Butcher was selected by the New York Knicks in the seventh round of the 1961 NBA draft. He played five seasons in the NBA, playing for both the Knicks and the Detroit Pistons. He also coached the Pistons from March 1967 to December 1968, tallying a regular season record of 52–60 and a playoff record of 2–4. Early years Butcher was born and raised in Williamsport, Kentucky. He attended Meade High School in Williamsport and Pikeville College in Pikeville, Kentucky. He played basketball for Pikeville where he was the only unanimous pick on the All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball team in both 1960 and 1961. The Chicago Bulls are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago. John Tresvant
John B. Tresvant (born November 6, 1939) is a retired American basketball player. Tresvant played from 1964 to 1973 in the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing for six teams, the St. Louis Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Cincinnati Royals, Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Baltimore Bullets. His teams reached the NBA finals in 1970 and 1971. Early life Tresvant was born on November 6, 1939, in Washington, D.C. He played high school football and baseball in Washington, but did not play basketball as he was cut from the team for being too short. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Paine Field in Everett, Washington and repaired aircraft radar units. The 1967–68 Seattle SuperSonics season was the inaugural season for the expansion Seattle SuperSonics franchise in the National Basketball Association. The team's official arena was the Seattle Center Coliseum. The 1967–68 season of the Philadelphia 76ers was the team's fifteenth season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and its fifth season since moving from Syracuse, as well as its first season at its new home in South Philadelphia, the Spectrum. The 76ers finished the regular season with a record of 62–20, and for the third straight year had the best record in the entire NBA. 1967–68 New York Knicks Season
The 1967–68 New York Knicks season was the 22nd season for the team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the regular season, the Knicks finished in third place in the Eastern Division with a 43–39 record, qualifying for the NBA playoffs for the second consecutive season. New York lost its opening round series to the Philadelphia 76ers, four games to two. Willis Reed scored 20.6 points per game and had 13.2 rebounds per game, leading the Knicks in both categories; Frazier had a team-high 4.1 assists per game.
