1966–67 European Cup
The 1966–67 European Cup was the 12th season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football tournament. The competition was won by Celtic for the first time, when they beat Inter Milan 2–1 in the final at the Estádio Nacional, Lisbon, on 25 May 1967, making them the first British team, as well as the only Scottish team (as of 2025) to win the trophy. Celtic also became just the second team to win the tournament on their debut appearance after Inter Milan in 1963–64 edition. Real Madrid were the defending champions, but were eliminated by eventual finalists Inter Milan in the quarter-finals. The Soviet Union entered its champion for the first time this season. Estádio Nacional
The Estádio Nacional ', also known as Jamor National Sports Centre (), is a football stadium. It is located in the civil parish of Algés, Linda-a-Velha e Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo, in the municipality of Oeiras, in the southwestern part of Lisbon District. The Portugal national team played 46 matches at the stadium from 1945 to 1987, then played additional friendlies in 1999, 2003, 2014 and 2024. The venue was used by B-SAD from 2018 to 2022. The stadium hosted the first ever UEFA club game on 4 September 1955 between Primeira Divisão's third-placed team, Sporting CP, and the Yugoslav champions, Serbian side Partizan Belgrade. The 1958–59 European Cup was the fourth season of the European Cup, Europe's premier club football tournament. The competition was won by Real Madrid, who beat Reims 2–0 in the final at Neckarstadion, Stuttgart, on 3 June 1959. This was Real Madrid's fourth European Cup title in a row. The two finalists also competed in the final of the first European Cup in 1956. It was the first time that a team from Finland participated, while Turkey's representative returned to the competition in the presence of Beşiktaş.
