1963–64 Nationalliga A
The following is the summary of the Swiss National League in the 1963–64 football season, both Nationalliga A and Nationalliga B. This was the 67th season of top-tier and the 66th season of second-tier football in Switzerland. Overview The Swiss Football Association (ASF/SFV) had 28 member clubs at this time which were divided into two divisions of 14 teams each. The teams played a double round-robin to decide their table positions. Two points were awarded for a win, and one point was awarded for a draw. The top tier (NLA) was contested by the top 12 teams from the previous 1962–63 season and the two newly promoted teams FC Schaffhausen and Cantonal Neuchâtel. The champions would qualify for the 1964–65 European Cup and the last two teams in the league table at the end of the season were to be relegated. The Super League (also known as the Credit Suisse Super League for sponsorship reasons) is a professional association football league in Switzerland and the highest level of the Swiss football league system. Chiasso
Chiasso (; ) is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Mendrisio (district), Mendrisio in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Ticino in Switzerland. FC Chiasso is a Swiss football club based in Chiasso. It was founded in 1905. Chiasso also played in the Italian first league between 1914 and 1923. The team currently play in 3. Stade de la Maladière was a multi-use stadium in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It was initially used as the stadium of Neuchâtel Xamax matches. It was replaced by the current Stade de la Maladière in 2005. Gurzelen Stadion was a multi-purpose stadium in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. It has mostly been used for football matches and was the home ground of FC Biel-Bienne. The capacity of the stadium was 5,500. Gurzelen Stadion was set to be demolished in mid 2016.
