The 1957–58 season was the 56th in the history of the Western Football League. Western Football League
The Western Football League is a association football, football league in South West England, covering Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, western Dorset, parts of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. The league's current main sponsor is Jewson, so it is also known as the Jewson Western League for sponsorship reasons. Recent restructuring of the English football league system has placed the two divisions, known as the Premier Division and Division One (each a maximum of twenty-two clubs) at the ninth and tenth tiers overall, known as Step 5 and Step 6 of the National League System. The champion club get promoted to a Step 4 league, which in practice will almost certainly be the Southern Football League, Southern League Division One South. Weston-super-Mare A
Weston-super-Mare ( ) is a seaside town and civil parish in the North Somerset unitary district, in the county of Somerset, England. It lies by the Bristol Channel south-west of Bristol between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill. Its population at the 2021 census was 82,418. The area around the town has been occupied since the Iron Age. It was still a small village until the 19th century when it developed as a seaside resort. A railway station and two piers were built. In the second half of the 20th century it was connected to the M5 motorway but the number of people holidaying in the town declined and some local industries closed, although the number of day visitors has risen. 1958–59 Southern Football League
The 1958–59 Southern Football League season was the 56th in the history of the league, an English Association football, football competition. It was the first season since 1936 the league split into two divisions following the election of thirteen new clubs at the end of the 1957–58 Southern Football League, previous season. Hereford United F.C., Hereford United won the North-West Division, whilst Bedford Town F.C., Bedford Town won the South-East Division. Bedford were declared Southern League champions after defeating Hereford 2–1 in a championship play-off at Edgar Street on 9 May. Nine clubs applied to join the Football League, although none were successful. Chippenham is a market town in north-west Wiltshire, England. It lies north-east of Bath, west of London and is near the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
