County Championship (rugby Union)
The County Championship is an annual rugby union competition in England between teams representing English counties. After restructuring in 2007 the top tier of the Championship has been known as the Bill Beaumont Cup, after the trophy awarded to the competition winners was named in honour of Bill Beaumont, a former England and British & Irish Lions captain. In 2017 the competition was officially known as Bill Beaumont Division 1, with teams also competing in Division 2 and Division 3, which prior to 2017 were known as the Plate and Shield competitions. The Championship has a long history, being first officially recognised by the Rugby Football Union in 1889. The 2018 Championship was the 118th competition. The most successful county, Lancashire, has won the competition 25 times, followed by Gloucestershire (17) and Yorkshire (15). Tom Pargetter
Thomas Alfred Pargetter (born 21 July 1932) is an English former international rugby union player. Pargetter was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, receiving his education at King Edward VI School. A 6 ft 4 in forward, Pargetter played his rugby with Moseley, Coventry and Warwickshire. Pargetter, a baker by profession, debuted for England against Scotland at Murrayfield in the 1962 Five Nations, having only just returned to the sport, after he had retired the previous year due to work commitments. In 1963, Pargetter made another Five Nations appearance, a win over France at Twickenham, then won a place on England's tour of Australasia and gained a third cap in the Test against the All Blacks at Eden Park. Camborne RFC was established in 1878, known locally by fans as 'Town', are one of the most famous rugby union clubs in Cornwall. Roger Hosen
Roger Wills Hosen (12 June 1933 – 9 April 2005) was an English rugby union player and cricketer. Early life He was born in Mabe and he first played rugby for Penryn while still at Falmouth Grammar School. He was an all round sportsman, who won ten England international rugby caps during 1963–67, played 54 games for Cornwall and also captained his county cricket team. Rugby International In 1955 Roger Hosen moved to Northampton, to teach at the grammar school, and was recruited to Northampton Saints. He played 250 games for the Saints, and scored 1,463 points. He was also taught games at Warwick School in the late 1950s and early 60s. In his one full season for England, Hosen established a record of forty-six points from five games. His England debut was made in New Zealand in 1963. He scored in all but one of his internationals, his highest scoring games being his last two, against Scotland and Wales in 1967. Gloucester Rugby are a professional rugby union club based in the West Country city of Gloucester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby.
