Chilean Primera División
The Chilean Primera División () is a professional association football league in Chile and the highest level of the Chilean football league system. Founded in 1933, it is organized by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP). The league is officially known as the Liga de Primera Itaú due to sponsorship by Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco, Itaú. Throughout its history, the Chilean Primera División has had different formats, structures and number of participants. The 2025 Chilean Primera División, 2025 season is being contested through a single tournament throughout the calendar year. A total of 16 teams participate in the competition and it works with a system of promotions and relegations with the immediately lower category, the Primera B de Chile, Primera B (category with which it shares the Copa Chile). Green Cross was a Chilean sports club that was based in the city of Santiago until 1965, when it moved to Temuco. History The club was founded on 27 June 1916, and its first chairman was ''Francisco Tapia''. It was one of the eight teams that founded the professional Chilean football league in 1933. The club had other sports branches besides football; these were basketball, cycling, and water polo. The club won its first and only Chilean league title in 1945. In April 1961 a number of players were killed in a plane crash in the Chilean Andes. The remains of the plane were found ten days after the accident. Club Social de Deportes Rangers is a Chilean football (soccer), football club based in the city of Talca. The club was founded November 2, 1902 and plays in the Chilean Primera División B, second level of the Chilean football system. History The club was founded by Italian residents in Santiago, on November 30, 1910, as Audax Club Ciclista Italiano in Alberto Caffi's hat store, and was originally focused on cycling.
