The 1957 season of the Peruvian Primera División, the top category of Peruvian football, was played by 10 teams. The national champions were Centro Iqueño. At the end of the regular season (home and away matches) teams were split in 2 groups of 5 teams: top 5 played for the title and bottom 5 played for the relegation. Teams carried their regular season records and played an additional round (4 further matches). The Peru First Division (; known simply as ''First Division'', and Liga 1 Te Apuesto for sponsorship reasons), officially known as Liga 1, is the top flight of association football in Peru. It has been referred to as Torneo Descentralizado since 1966 until 2019, when the first teams residing outside the Lima Province, Lima and Callao provinces were invited to compete in the 1912 Liga Peruana de Football, inaugural league national competition. The main sponsor is the sports betting company Te Apuesto. As of the 2025 Liga 1 (Peru), 2025 season, there are 19 teams in the division of a league that operates on a system of promotion and relegation determined at the end of the season with the Peruvian Segunda División, Segunda División (Liga 2). Seasons run from February to December, with each team playing 38 matches, 18 in the Apertura and 18 in the Clausura. Campeonato De Apertura (Perú)
The Campeonato de Apertura, also called the Torneo Apertura, was a Peruvian football competition created and then organized by the Asociación No Amateur (ANA). It was played from 1945 to 1961 and then discontinued until 1969. The tournament was played before the start of the Peruvian Primera División and had no influence on the tournament. These matches are neither considered official nor friendly since they were closer to an exhibition format than to a real competition for points. In most editions, the tournament was developed in quadrangles where the four best-placed teams in the final standings of each Peruvian Primera División of the previous year participated. Club Mariscal Sucre de Deportes, commonly known as Mariscal Sucre, is a Peruvian football club, located in the city of La Victoria, Lima. The club was founded with the name of Sucre FC and was promoted to Peruvian Primera División in 1933, later was renamed Mariscal Sucre de Deportes in 1951. 1965 Peruvian Primera División
The 1965 Peruvian Primera División, the top category of Peruvian football, was played by 10 teams. The national champion was Alianza Lima. This was the first season to qualify two teams to the Copa Libertadores and the last to only include teams from Lima and Callao. Format The season was divided into two stages. In the first stage, each team played the others twice (a double round robin system) for a total of 18 games. Teams received two points for a win and one point for a draw. No points were awarded for a loss. The teams carried their records from the first stage into the second stage. In the second stage, the teams were separated into two groups; an upper-table group and lower-table group. Each group played a further 4 games against the teams in their group.
