1955–56 Danish Ice Hockey Championship Season
The 1955–56 AL-Bank Ligaen, Danish Ice Hockey Championship season was the second season of ice hockey in Denmark. KSF Copenhagen won the championship by defeating Rungsted IK in the final. Jütland Regional Tournament ; Teams * Silkeborg SF * Esbjerg IK, Esbjerg SK * Herning Blue Fox, Herning IK * Horsens SF * Viborg SF Silkeborg SF qualified with four wins against the other teams and a goal difference of 28:9. Final Due to logistical problems Silkeborg SF did not participate in the final tournament. That left two teams, KSF Copenhagen and Rungsted IK, left to play in the finals. The final was held on a frozen-over tennis court in Hørsholm. Ice conditions were poor due to recent warm temperatures, so KSF Copenhagen initially proposed to play the game as a friendly only. AL-Bank Ligaen
The Superisligaen, known as the Metal Ligaen for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level ice hockey league in Denmark. The league consists of 9 professional teams. Teams from the Superisligaen can participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Going into the 2022–23 Champions Hockey League, 2022–23 CHL season, the Superisligaen was Champions Hockey League#League ranking, ranked the No. 13 league in Europe, allowing them to send their top team to compete in the CHL. Rungsted Ishockey Klub is a Denmark, Danish ice hockey club from Rungsted. The elite team is called ''Rungsted Seier Capital''. History The club was founded in 1941. Nordsjælland Cobras The Nordsjælland Cobras was the elite team for Rungsted Ishockey Klub and played in the top Danish ice hockey league AL-Bank Ligaen. After filing for bankruptcy at the end of the 2009-2010 season, the team was excluded from the following season. They changed name from the Rungsted Cobras to the Nordsjælland Cobras in 2004, but they are still based in Rungsted. The team won the Danish national championship in 2003. Esbjerg IK is an ice hockey club in Esbjerg, Denmark, with several youth and amateurs' teams. They have played their home games at Esbjerg Skøjtehal since 1976. History Esbjerg IK was founded on November 4, 1964, however, there was already an ice hockey team in Esbjerg before they were founded. Herning Blue Fox is a Denmark, Danish professional ice hockey team based in Herning, Denmark, playing in the Metal Ligaen, the top tier of Danish ice hockey.
