1954–55 Serie A
The 1954-55 Serie A was the fifty-third edition of the Italian Football Championship. It was the twenty-second Italian Football Championship branded Serie A, since Serie A was launched in 1929. This was the twenty-ninth season from which the Italian Football Champions adorned their team jerseys in the subsequent season with a Scudetto. AC Milan were champions for the second of four wins that decade, and for the fifth time in their history. This was their second scudetto since the scudetto started being awarded in 1924, and their second win contested as Serie A. Teams Catania and Pro Patria had been promoted from Serie B. On February 13, 1955 Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma and Milan all lost on the same match day, a feat that would not be repeated until September 18, 2022. The Serie A (), officially known as Serie A Enilive in Italy and Serie A Made in Italy abroad for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Italy and the highest tier of the Italian football league system. Established in the 1929–30 Serie A, 1929–30 season, it restructured the existing Italian Football Championship, which had been played since 1898 Italian Football Championship, 1898, into a national round-robin format alongside Serie B. It functions under a promotion and relegation system with Serie B and has historically served as the pinnacle of professional football in Italy. The league was organised by the Direttorio Divisioni Superiori until 1943, the Lega Nazionale Professionisti, Lega Calcio from 1946 to 2010, and the Lega Serie A ever since. The Derby d'Italia () is the name of the football derby between Internazionale of Milan and Juventus of Turin. The term was coined in 1967 by Italian sports journalist Gianni Brera. Derby Della Lanterna
The , Italian for the "Derby of the Lighthouse", is Genoa's local derby, played by Genoa and Sampdoria. It takes place at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which both clubs share. The 1955 Latin Cup () was the sixth edition of the annual Latin Cup which was played by clubs of the Romance-speaking Europe, Southwest European nations of France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
