The 1946 Dickinson Red and White football team was an American football team that represented Dickinson College as an independent during the 1946 college football season The 1946 college football season was the 78th season of intercollegiate football in the United States. Competition included schools from the Big Ten Conference, the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC), the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the Big Six C .... In their first year under head coach Ralph Ricker, the Red Devils compiled a 6–1 record and outscored opponents by a total of 115 to 51. It was Dickinson's first season of college football since 1942, the program having been suspended during World War II. It was also the program's most successful season since the unbeaten 1937 season. Ralph Ricker
Ralph Ross "Dutch" Ricker (January 31, 1908 – February 7, 1987) was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from 1946 to 1949 and Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania from 1950 to 1953. A native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Ricker played college football at Pennsylvania State University before graduating with Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in history. Ricker began his coaching career in 1930 at Lock Haven High in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania at head football coach. The 1946 college football season was the 78th season of intercollegiate football in the United States.
