Bill Thoms
William David Thoms (March 5, 1910 – December 26, 1964) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 548 games in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks and Boston Bruins between 1932 and 1945. Thoms tied Charlie Conacher for the NHL goal-scoring lead in 1935–36; however, Conacher is recognized as the goal-scoring champion due to Conacher's playing fewer games. Elwin Romnes
Elwin Nelson "Doc" Romnes (January 1, 1907 – July 21, 1984) was an American ice hockey player and coach. He played professionally in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Chicago Black Hawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Americans from 1930 to 1940. He won the Lady Byng Trophy in 1935–36 for sportsmanship and gentlemanly play, and with Chicago won the Stanley Cup twice, in 1934 and 1938. Following his player career, Romnes was head coach of the Michigan Tech Huskies from 1941 to 1945 (including two years when the program was suspended during World War II), and the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 1947 until 1952. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973. Tiny Thompson
Cecil Ralph "Tiny" Thompson (May 31, 1903 – February 9, 1981) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), first for the Boston Bruins, and later for the Detroit Red Wings. A four-time Vezina Trophy winner, Thompson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1959. He was a member of one Stanley Cup-winning team, as a rookie in the 1928–29 season with the Boston Bruins. At the start of the 1938–39 season, after ten full seasons with Boston, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, where he completed the season, and played another full one before retiring. During his NHL career, he recorded 81 shutouts, the sixth-highest of any goaltender. After retiring from playing, he coached lower-league teams before becoming a noted professional scout. Normie Smith
Norman Eugene Smith (March 18, 1908 – February 2, 1988) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Montreal Maroons and the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League. Rookie career Smith enjoyed much success in his rookie years with the Montreal Maroons. He was playing his 20th game for the Maroons in 1930–31 when Howie Morenz was sent flying into the Maroons net and knocked off Smith, who was so badly injured that he was out for the rest of the season. Smith spent the next two seasons in the minors working on his rebound-control and all-around game. It was there in the minors that Smith started wearing his distinctive cap to stop the glare of the overhead lights from blinding him. NHL career In 1934, Smith was signed by the Detroit Red Wings. Norman Thomas Mann (March 3, 1914 — February 9, 1994) was an English-born Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 31 games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs between 1936 and 1941. Gus Marker
Augustus Solberg Marker (August 1, 1905 – October 7, 1997) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who had played ten seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Maroons, Toronto Maple Leafs and Brooklyn Americans between 1932 and 1942. Playing career In 336 NHL games, Marker scored 64 goals, and 69 assists for 133 points in his career. Art Jackson
Arthur Morris Jackson (December 15, 1915 – May 15, 1971) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, and New York Americans between 1934 and 1945. He won the Stanley Cup twice during his career, in 1941 Stanley Cup Finals, 1941 with Boston, and in 1945 Stanley Cup Finals, 1945 with Toronto. His brother, Harvey Jackson, Harvey "Busher" Jackson also played in the NHL, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Leroy Delano "Goldy" Goldsworthy (October 18, 1906 – March 16, 1980) was an American ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League between 1929 and 1939. New York Americans
The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. They were the third expansion team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the second to play in the United States. The team never won the Stanley Cup, but reached the semifinals twice. While it was the first team in New York City, it was eclipsed by the second, the New York Rangers, which arrived in 1926 under the ownership of the Amerks' landlord, Madison Square Garden (1925), Madison Square Garden. The team played as the Brooklyn Americans during the 1941–42 NHL season, 1941–42 season before suspending operations in 1942 due to World War II and long-standing financial difficulties.
