1938–39 Cupa României
The 1938–39 Cupa României was the sixth edition of Romania's most prestigious Association football, football Single-elimination tournament, cup competition. The title was won by FC Rapid București, Rapid București against FC Sportul Studențesc București, Sportul Studențesc București. Format The competition is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random. There are no seeds for the draw. The draw also determines which teams will play at home. Each tie is played as a single leg. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in Overtime (sports), extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, there a Replay (sports), replay will be played, usually at the ground of the team who were away for the first game. Fotbal Club Rapid 1923, commonly known as Rapid București () or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional association football, football club based in Bucharest, that competes in the Liga I. It was founded in 1923 by employees of the Grivița workshops as the ''Asociația Culturală și Sportivă Căile Ferate Române, CFR'' (). Domestically, Rapid București is one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won three national titles, 13 Cupa României, and four Supercupa României. Chinezul Timișoara was a football club that played both in the Romanian and the Hungarian championship during its existence. It was based in Timișoara, Romania (at the time of foundation Temesvár, Austria-Hungary). History The club was established in 1910 under the name ''Temesvári Kinizsi SE'' with the support of the local Rail Workers' Association. It was named after Pál Kinizsi, a general in the army of king Matthias Corvinus and Comes of Temes. The crest of the club also reflected to it, as it featured an arm holding a mill stone. This was related to old Hungarian folk tales which stated that Pál Kinizsi was a very strong miller who offered the king a glass of water on a mill stone with one hand instead of a platter. Mihai Viteazul Chișinău was a football club from Chișinău, Kingdom of Romania. This is the most titled club in the interwar Bessarabia from Chișinău. Along with Fulgerul Chișinău is the only team that reached the semifinals in Romania interwar league.
