The 1938–39 Allsvenskan was the fifth season of the top division of Swedish handball. Eight teams competed in the league. Redbergslids IK won the league, but the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the winner of Svenska mästerskapet. Handbollsligan
Handbollsligan ''(literally, "The Handball league")'' is the highest league in the league system of Swedish handball, and comprises the top 14 Swedish handball teams. The first season began in 1931–32. The season ends with a playoff. Structure The season starts in September with a regular season comprising 14 teams meeting each other twice. A total of 26 rounds. The eight best teams after the regular season qualifies for the play-off. The 14th team is relegated, and the 11th, 12th and 13th team plays matches against the second, third and fourth from Allsvenskan to qualify for next season's Handbollsligan. The season ends with the finals in the beginning of May and the winning team qualifies directly to EHF European League and the losing team qualifies for the EHF European Cup. Redbergslids IK
Redbergslids IK (RIK), is a professional handball team from Gothenburg, Sweden founded in 1916. Redbergslid is the most successful club in Sweden, having won 20 Swedish Championship titles. Home games are played in Prioritet Serneke Arena. Redbergslid is the only Scandinavian club to win the EHF Champions League (1959). They also reached the final of the EHF Cup Winner's Cup in 2003. Noted players of the club include Peter Gentzel, Stefan Lövgren, Ljubomir Vranjes, Magnus Wislander and Andreas Palicka. In the 2022/2023 season Redbergslid were relegated from the Handbollsligan, top Swedish league, after spending 40 years straight (82 in total) in the top league. 1938–39 Svenska Mästerskapet (men's Handball)
The 1938–39 Svenska mästerskapet was the eighth season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 19 teams competed in the tournament. VästerÃ¥s IK were the defending champions, but failed to qualify after being eliminated from the District Championship of Västmanland by KFUM Köping. Upsala Studenters IF won the title, defeating Redbergslids IK in the final. The final was played on 2 April in Studenternas tennishall in Uppsala, and was watched by 822 spectators. Majornas IK
Majornas IK is a Swedish sport club from Gothenburg founded in 1916. The club is most famous for its handball team, who have been List of Swedish men's handball champions, Swedish champions seven times (1935, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946). Until 1964 they had played all seasons excluding one in the Handbollsligan, top flight, but have not played there since. They currently play in Division 4, the 6th level. When the club started, it was mainly concentrated on association football, but the football section was discontinued in 2006 because of a lack of players. Stockholms-Flottans IF were a handball club from Stockholm. They played in the first Swedish championship final in 1932, but lost to Flottans IF Karlskrona. They reached the final again in 1933, but were beaten by Redbergslid. In 1934–35, they were founding members of Allsvenskan. Flottans IF Karlskrona
Karlskrona Handboll was a Swedish handball club based in Karlskrona, founded in 1920. They were the first Swedish champions in 1932. They were founding members of Allsvenskan in 1934–35.
