National Hockey League
The National Hockey League (NHL; , ''LNH'') is a professional ice hockey league in North America composed of 32 teams25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. Montreal Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens (), officially ' ( Canadian Hockey Club) and colloquially known as the Habs, are a professional ice hockey team based in Montreal. John Sherf
John Harold Sherf (April 8, 1913 – August 19, 1991) was an American ice hockey player. He played 19 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings between 1936 and 1943. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1935 to 1944, was mainly spent in the American Hockey League. Sherf won the Stanley Cup in 1937 with Detroit, and is the second U.S. citizen to have his name engraved on the Cup. The first American to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup, also from Michigan’s upper peninsula, was Clarence “Taffy” Abel of Sault Ste. Marie, who played for the NHL champion New York Rangers in 1928 and Chicago Blackhawks in 1934. His name is engraved on the Stanley Cup with his teammates on those teams. Edward George Wares (March 19, 1915 – February 29, 1992) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 324 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Black Hawks between 1937 and 1947. Glenn Brydson
Glenn Warren "Swampy" Brydson (November 7, 1910 — December 9, 1993) was a Canadian ice hockey right winger who played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Maroons, St. Louis Eagles, New York Rangers and Chicago Black Hawks between 1930 and 1938. After leaving the NHL Brydson played five seasons seasons were spent in the International American Hockey League, which became the American Hockey League, where he played for the New Haven Eagles, Indianapolis Capitals, Springfield Indians, and Pittsburgh Hornets. Alexander Everett Motter (June 20, 1913 – October 18, 1996) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played 265 games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings between 1934 and 1943. Gord Pettinger
Gordon Robinson "Gosh" Pettinger (November 11, 1911 – May 24, 1986) was a British-born Canadian professional ice hockey centre. Pettinger was born in Harrogate, England and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins between 1932 and 1940. Pettinger won the Stanley Cup four times with three teams: in 1933 with the Rangers, in 1936 and 1937 with the Red Wings, and in 1939 with the Bruins. Bill MacKenzie
William Kenneth MacKenzie (December 12, 1911 — May 29, 1990) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He played in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers, Montreal Maroons, and Montreal Canadiens between 1932 and 1940. Playing career MacKenzie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He started his National Hockey League career with the Chicago Black Hawks in 1932. He also played for the Montreal Maroons, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Rangers. In January 1935 Bill MacKenzie was loaned to the New York Rangers, for the rest of season, for cash. In the Stanley Cup semi-finals Montreal Maroons defeated the New York Rangers, then defeated Toronto in the Finals.
