The 1937–38 Allsvenskan was the fourth season of the top division of Swedish handball. Eight teams competed in the league. Handbollsligan
Handbollsligan ''(literally, "The Handball league")'' is the highest league in the league system of Swedish handball, and comprises the top 14 Swedish handball teams. The first season began in 1931–32. The season ends with a playoff. Structure The season starts in September with a regular season comprising 14 teams meeting each other twice. A total of 26 rounds. The eight best teams after the regular season qualifies for the play-off. The 14th team is relegated, and the 11th, 12th and 13th team plays matches against the second, third and fourth from Allsvenskan to qualify for next season's Handbollsligan. The season ends with the finals in the beginning of May and the winning team qualifies directly to EHF European League and the losing team qualifies for the EHF European Cup. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. Majornas IK
Majornas IK is a Swedish sport club from Gothenburg founded in 1916. The club is most famous for its handball team, who have been List of Swedish men's handball champions, Swedish champions seven times (1935, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946). Until 1964 they had played all seasons excluding one in the Handbollsligan, top flight, but have not played there since. They currently play in Division 4, the 6th level. When the club started, it was mainly concentrated on association football, but the football section was discontinued in 2006 because of a lack of players. 1937–38 Svenska Mästerskapet (men's Handball)
The 1937–38 Svenska mästerskapet was the seventh season of Svenska mästerskapet, a tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions of men's handball. Teams qualified by winning their respective District Championships. 19 teams competed in the tournament. SoIK Hellas were the defending champions, but failed to qualify after losing the District Championship final of Stockholm to Djurgårdens IF. Västerås IK won the title, defeating Djurgårdens IF in the final. Västerås IK became the first team from outside Allsvenskan to win the Swedish Championship since the start of league handball in Sweden. The final was played on 10 April in Skeppsholmshallen in Stockholm, and was watched by 1,450 spectators. The final was the first handball match in Sweden to be broadcast on radio. Redbergslids IK
Redbergslids IK (RIK), is a professional handball team from Gothenburg, Sweden founded in 1916. Redbergslid is the most successful club in Sweden, having won 20 Swedish Championship titles. Home games are played in Prioritet Serneke Arena. Redbergslid is the only Scandinavian club to win the EHF Champions League (1959). They also reached the final of the EHF Cup Winner's Cup in 2003. Noted players of the club include Peter Gentzel, Stefan Lövgren, Ljubomir Vranjes, Magnus Wislander and Andreas Palicka. In the 2022/2023 season Redbergslid were relegated from the Handbollsligan, top Swedish league, after spending 40 years straight (82 in total) in the top league. Flottans IF Karlskrona
Karlskrona Handboll was a Swedish handball club based in Karlskrona, founded in 1920. They were the first Swedish champions in 1932. They were founding members of Allsvenskan in 1934–35. They reached the Swedish championship final again in 1936, but lost to Hellas. They were relegated from Allsvenskan in 1939 and have not returned since. Until the 1950s, almost all players of the club were members of the Swedish Navy (Flottan). In 2022 Karlskrona Handboll and HIF Karlskrona became one club, now under the name HF Karlskrona. SoIK Hellas is a sports club in Stockholm, Sweden, established on 14 May 1899 as Pastorns gossar ("The Preacher's Guys") by Katarina Parish Confirmation (Lutheran Church), confirmation priest Ernst Klefbeck, before changing name to SoIK Hellas in 1912, also on the initiative of Ernst Klefbeck.
