1934–35 Swiss 1. Liga
The 1934–35 1. Liga season was the 4th season of the 1. Liga since its creation in 1931. At this time, the 1. Liga was the second-tier of the Swiss football league system. Overview There were further changes in the league system in advance of this season. There were now 22 clubs that competed in the 1. Liga. That was an increase of four clubs compared to the previous season. The 1. Liga would be stocked up to 24 clubs in the following season. The 22 clubs were divided into two regional groups, each with 11 teams. The teams in each group played a double round-robin to decide their league position. Two points were awarded for a win and one point was awarded for a draw. Both group winners were promoted to the top-tier Nationalliga, but they then contested a play-off round to decide the title of 1. Liga champions. FC Grenchen is a Swiss football club, based in Grenchen. They currently play in the 2. Liga, and play their matches at the Brühl Stadium. History FC Grenchen was founded in 1906. In 1937 they gained promotion to the top league of Swiss football, Nationalliga A, in these inter-war years they came runners-up in this league three times, and runner up in the cup, but their biggest success came post-war coming second in the league one further time and winning the cup in 1959. FC Solothurn is a Swiss football club based in Solothurn. The club has formerly played in the Challenge League (2nd level) and currently plays in Swiss 1. Liga (4th level).
