1934 Cupa României Final
The 1934 Cupa României Final was the first final of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. It was disputed between Ripensia Timișoara and Universitatea Cluj, and was initially played on 8 September 1934 in Timișoara. After losing 3-2, Universitatea Cluj contested the decision to stage the game in the opponent's hometown, and insisted the final to be replayed on a neutral venue. The objection was accepted, and a replay took place on 30 September 1934 in Bucharest. Ripensia won again, this time by a five goals margin, and became the first winners of the Romanian Cup. Both teams played in 1–2–3–5 formula, 1 GK, 2 DF, 3 MF and 5 FW. The first game played at Timișoara on 8 September 1934 was contested by Universitatea Cluj requiring the match to be played at a neutral stadium. 1933–34 Cupa României
The 1933–34 Cupa României was the inaugural season of the Romania's most prestigious football (soccer) cup competition. In order to promote the competition and encourage clubs to register to the cup, no taxes were enforced on the participants. From the sixty-eight teams registered for the competition, fifty-two were not competing in the top-flight. The competition started in the autumn of 1933. The first phases involved only teams coming from district leagues. The draws were made taking in account logistic difficulties, and sixteen of these clubs advanced to the first round proper, where they were joined by the sixteen teams from Diviza A. The results of the preliminary phase were not recorded. The first winners were Ripensia Timișoara, who defeated Universitatea Cluj in the final. Vilmos Zombori
Vilmos Zombori (11 January 1906 – 17 January 1993) was a Romanian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was also known as William Zombory. Club career Vilmos Zombori was born on 11 January 1906 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up in a family in which he had eight brothers. He started to play junior level football in 1919 at Chinezul Timișoara, starting his senior career in 1925 in the regional league at Sparta CFR Timișoara. After one year he went back at Chinezul, being brought as a replacement for Adalbert Ritter, winning the 1926–27 title, being used by coaches Frontz Dőme and Jenő Konrád in 11 games. In 1930, Zombori went at Ripensia Timișoara, winning the 1932–33 title, being the first-choice goalkeeper, coach Konrád using him in 11 games in which he scored one goal, including playing in the final with Universitatea Cluj. Lazăr Sfera
Lazăr Sfera (29 April 1909, in Lokve, Alibunar, Végszentmihály, Austria-Hungary (today Lokve, Serbia) – 24 April 1992) was a Romanian footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender. Career He began his career at the youth team of FC Politehnica Timișoara, Politehnica Timișoara from 1923 to 1925. He stayed at the club until 1929. He then left for Liga I, Divizia A club Banatul Timișoara before signing for one season at FC Victoria Cluj, Rômania Cluj. He then left for FC Universitatea Cluj, Universitatea Cluj until 1934. Andrei Sepci
Andrei Sepci (7 October 1911 – 3 December 1992) was a Romanian footballer and manager. He was the manager that guided Știința Cluj in its successful 1964–65 Cupa României campaign. Club career Sepci was born on 7 October 1911 in Barnabas, Máramaros, Austria-Hungary (now Ukraine), starting to play junior level football in 1922 at Școala Sportivă Sătmăreană Satu Mare, moving in 1927 at Olimpia Satu Mare where he played in the regional league. In 1932 he went to play for Universitatea Cluj, making his Divizia A debut under coach Adalbert Kovács on 11 September in a 3–1 away win over AMEF Arad, the team reaching by the end of the season the final of the championship which was lost with 5–3 on aggregate in favor of Ripensia Timișoara, Sepci playing in all 14 games of the campaign. Josef Uridil
Josef Uridil (nicknamed ''Pepi, der Tank''; 24 December 1895 – 20 May 1962) was an Austrian footballer and coach. Biography Pepi Uridil, third son of the taylor Kajetan Uridil, was born on Christmas Eve 1895 in the Vienna suburb of Ottakring. He began to play football aged eight in the streets of his neighbourhood with his brother Franz. Pepi Uridil played for numerous clubs in his youth, such as ''Sportklub Orion'', ''Tasmania'', ''Rekord'' and then Blue Star Vienne, before leaving for the great club of SK Rapid Wien in Hütteldorf. Eugen Lakatos
Eugen Lakatos (24 October 1912 – 18 February 1949) was a Romanian footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Lakatos was born on 24 October 1912 in Zichy, Austria-Hungary. While he was a child his family moved to Timișoara, Romania where he grew up in the Ronaț neighborhood. He started to play junior level football at Chinezul Timișoara. In 1925 when he was around the age of 13 he started to play senior level football for Chinezul. At the end of his first season he helped the club win the title, being used by coach Frontz Dőme in 15 matches from the regional and national championship together, including all the minutes in the 3–0 win over Juventus București from the national championship final.
