Divizia A
Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently 25th in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Eugen Lakatos
Eugen Lakatos (24 October 1912 – 18 February 1949) was a Romanian footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Lakatos was born on 24 October 1912 in Zichy, Austria-Hungary. While he was a child his family moved to Timișoara, Romania where he grew up in the Ronaț neighborhood. He started to play junior level football at Chinezul Timișoara. In 1925 when he was around the age of 13 he started to play senior level football for Chinezul. At the end of his first season he helped the club win the title, being used by coach Frontz Dőme in 15 matches from the regional and national championship together, including all the minutes in the 3–0 win over Juventus București from the national championship final. After the game, the ''Gazeta Sporturilor'' newspaper described him as "excelling in brutal play" but also noticing that he "managed to stop any action of the Bucharest wingers". Rudolf Kotormány
Rudolf Kotormány (23 January 1911 – 2 August 1983), also spelled in Romanian as Cotormani, was a Romanian international footballer who played as a defender and coach. Club career Kotormány, nicknamed ''Fachirul'' () was born on 23 January 1911 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up and starting to play football as a child in the Mehala neighborhood. At age 10 he started playing football at local club, Fortuna. In 1930 he started his senior career, as he went to play for Chinezul Timișoara. In 1931, Kotormány went at Ripensia Timișoara where he made his Divizia A debut on 11 September 1932 in a 3–2 away loss to CFR București. He won the title in his first season, coach Jenő Konrád using him in 13 games in which he scored one goal, including playing in the final with Universitatea Cluj. Adalbert Hrehuss (born 1906, date of death unknown) was a Romanian footballer who played as a midfielder. International career Adalbert Hrehuss played two matches for Romania, making his debut on 12 October 1930 under coach Constantin Rădulescu in a 5–3 loss against Bulgaria at the 1929–31 Balkan Cup. His second game was a friendly which ended with a 6–3 victory against France. Rudolf Bürger
Rudolf Bürger (31 October 1908 – 20 January 1980) was a Romanian international footballer and coach of German ethnicity. He is one of a few men who participated in each of the three pre-World War II FIFA World Cups. At club level, he played mostly for Ripensia Timișoara with whom he won several trophies. Club career Bürger was born on 31 October 1908 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up and starting to play football as a child in the Elisabetin neighborhood. In 1920 he started to play junior level football at local club, ESE. Afterwards he moved to CS Tricolor, then he went at ETC, arriving in 1924 at Chinezul Timișoara. In the 1926–27 season he played one league game for Chinezul as the team won the title. Vilmos Zombori
Vilmos Zombori (11 January 1906 – 17 January 1993) was a Romanian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was also known as William Zombory. Club career Vilmos Zombori was born on 11 January 1906 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up in a family in which he had eight brothers. He started to play junior level football in 1919 at Chinezul Timișoara, starting his senior career in 1925 in the regional league at Sparta CFR Timișoara. After one year he went back at Chinezul, being brought as a replacement for Adalbert Ritter, winning the 1926–27 title, being used by coaches Frontz Dőme and Jenő Konrád in 11 games. Petea Vâlcov
Petre "Petea" Vâlcov (1910 – 16 November 1943) was a Romanian football player. Forming a well-known attacking triple for Venus București alongside his two brothers, Colea and Volodea, he was one of the most efficient goal-scorers in the Romanian First League. Career He played for only two clubs : Mihai Viteazu Chişinău and Venus București. Despite his goalscoring ability, he was never the top-goalscorer of the Divizia A. International career Petea Vâlcov made his debut for the national side in a June 1933 Balkan Cup match against Bulgaria. He had a great spell and scored two goals as Romania won 7–0.
