1926 Campeonato Paulista
The 1926 Campeonato Paulista was the 25th season of São Paulo's top association football league. Two championships were disputed that season, each by a different league (APEA and LAF). LAF Championship In the edition organized by the LAF (Liga dos Amadores de Futebol), from June 6 to November 7. Paulistano won the title for the 9th time. No teams were relegated. The top scorer was Filó with 16 goals. System The championship was disputed in a double round-robin system, with the team with the most points winning the title. Championship APEA Championship In the edition organized by the APEA (Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos) from April 25 to October 17. The Campeonato Paulista Série A1, commonly known as Campeonato Paulista, nicknamed Paulistão, is the top-flight professional state football league in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Run by the São Paulo State Football Federation (FPF), the league is contested by 16 clubs and typically lasts from January to April. Rivalries amongst four of the best-known Brazilian teams ( Corinthians, Palmeiras, Santos and São Paulo) have marked the history of the competition. Araken Patusca
Araken Patusca (17 July 1905 – 24 January 1990) was a Brazilian footballer who played as a striker. He was born in Santos. Throughout his career (1923–1937), he played for Santos FC, Club Athletico Paulistano, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, São Paulo. Having been three consecutive times runner-up with Santos (1927, 1928, 1929) at the ''Campeonato Paulista'', he won the title with them in 1931, and then in 1935 with Independente. With Siriri, Feitiço, Evengelista and Camarão formed one of the most important attacking lines of the 1920s. In 1928, he was the top goalscorer of the ''Campeonato Paulista''. He scored the 1000th goal in Santos FC history against Atlas Flamengo in 1929. In total he scored 182 goals in 193 matches for Santos and is considered a club idol. With the Brazil national team he participated in the first edition of the World Cup in 1930, playing one match against Yugoslavia. Sport Club Internacional, commonly known as Internacional, was a Brazilian association football, football team from São Paulo, São Paulo (state), São Paulo state. They competed several times in the Campeonato Paulista and won the competition twice. History Sport Club Internacional was founded on August 19, 1899. They won the Campeonato Paulista for the first time in 1907 in Brazilian football, 1907, and in 1928 in Brazilian football, 1928, when the league was organized by LAF. Associação Atlética São Bento, was an association football club from the Brazilian metropolis São Paulo. The club existed between 1914 and 1935 and won the State Championship of São Paulo in 1914 and twice. History Associação Atlética São Bento were founded in 1914 by Father Katon, professor at the high school São Bento at the place of the same name downtown São Paulo. Clube Atlético Ypiranga, also known as Ypiranga, are a Brazilian social club from São Paulo, Brazil. History The club was founded on June 10, 1906, The team first entered the Paulista championship in 1910, and became a regular participant; even though the team never won any Paulista titles, it managed to be runner-up thrice, and was one of the founding members of the Federação Paulista de Futebol . From 1932 to 1950, Ypiranga played its home matches at the Nami Jafet stadium. In 1953, the club lost its headquarters, triggering a crisis in the club that culminated in the team being relegated the next year.
