The 1924 Primera División championship the second and last tournament organized by the dissident body Uruguayan Football Federation (FUF). Overview The tournament consisted of a round-robin tournament. It involved 17 teams, and the champion was Peñarol. This was the last tournament to be played in this federation, having been suspended which would take place the following year. After the dissolution of the Federation, some of the clubs in the FUF returned to the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) and many others disappeared. The Uruguayan Football Federation ( or ) was a federation of association football, football clubs founded in Uruguay in 1923 which existed alongside the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) during the Amateur sports, amateur era of Uruguayan people, Uruguayan football. The Federation was created in response to the Uruguayan football schism, which originated with the disaffiliation of AUF Peñarol and Central during the 1922_Uruguayan_Primera_División, 1922 championship. Club Atlético Peñarol (), more commonly referred to as Peñarol, is a Uruguayan professional football club based in Montevideo. The club currently competes in the Uruguayan Primera División, the highest tier in Uruguayan football. The name of the club comes from the neighborhood on the outskirts of Montevideo, which itself takes its name from Pinerolo, a town in the metropolitan area of Turin, in the Italian region of Piedmont. Defensor Sporting Club is a sports club based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded in 1913, Defensor has several sports sections, with football and basketball being the most important and the ones in which the club has achieved significant achievements in Uruguay and internationally. Club Sportivo Miramar Misiones, usually known simply as Miramar Misiones is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The club was formed from the merger of two clubs: Miramar (founded on October 17, 1915) and Misiones (founded on March 26, 1906), in June 1980. As part of the merger, the new strip for the new club was a mixture of those of the previous two clubs. The home strip (white and black) is the old Miramar strip, and the away strip was the one used by Misiones. The national flag of Uruguay (), officially known as the National Pavilion (), is one of the three official flags of Uruguay along with the Artigas flag and the flag of the Treinta y Tres. It has a field of nine equal horizontal stripes alternating white and blue. The canton is white, charged with the Sun of May, from which 16 rays extend, alternating between triangular and wavy. The flag was first adopted by law on 18 December 1828, and had 19 alternating stripes of white and blue until 11 July 1830, when a new law reduced the number of alternating stripes to nine.
