1922 Uruguayan Primera División
The Uruguayan Championship 1922 was the 22nd season of Uruguay's top-flight football league. Overview The tournament consisted of a two-wheel championship of all against all. It involved twelve teams, and the champion was Nacional. This year there was a schism in Uruguayan football, Peñarol and Central being disaffiliated for disobeying the mandates of the AUF.On November 12, 1922, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) decided to disaffiliate Peñarol and Central after both transgressed the rules of the Association to play friendly matches against Racing Club and Independiente de Avellaneda respectively, clubs belonging to the Association Amateurs Football in Argentina, a dissident entity of AFA. Both clubs then founded the Uruguayan Football Federation, whose tournaments were not officially recognized by the AUF. Federación Uruguaya De Football
The Uruguayan Football Federation ( or ) was a federation of football clubs founded in Uruguay in 1923 which existed alongside the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) during the amateur era of Uruguayan football. The Federation was created in response to the Uruguayan football schism, which originated with the disaffiliation of AUF Peñarol and Central during the 1922 championship. National football championships were organized in tandem with the AUF between 1923 and 1925. In 1925, the Uruguayan government intervened to impose a merger between the old AUF and the FUF into a single federation.
