1910–11 Prima Categoria
The 1910-11 Prima Categoria season was the fourteenth of the Italian Football Championship and the eighth since the re-brand to Prima Categoria. Champions for the third time in four season and regaining the title after their protest the season before were Pro Vercelli. Regulation The quality committee accepted a third Turinese club, Piedmont FC.Meanwhile, Associazione Calcio Libertas, Libertas F.C. refused to join the championship, leaving incomplete the FIGC’s desired top-ten format. The FIGC organized a test group in the Northeast with four clubs. The competition was expanded to 13 clubs to include for the first time, clubs from outside the Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont triangle. To accommodate the newly admitted teams from the North East, 2 regional round robin tournaments took place. The winner of each of those then played off in a final. Founded on 16 January 1902 by Ambrogio Ferrario, Romolo Buni and Gilbert Marley at the Caffè Verdi in Porta Nuova in Milan, the ''Unione Sportiva Milanese'' was born as a multi-sports club for compete in different disciplines. In the spring of 1904 the football section was established on the initiative of some footballers and gymnasts who left first ''A.C.Milan'' and then ''Mediolanum'' (among of which Umberto Meazza), while the affiliation to the Italian Football Federation (FIF), the current FIGC, took place in 1905. 1909–10 Prima Categoria
The 1909-10 Prima Categoria was the thirteenth edition of the Italian Football Championship and the seventh since the rebrand to Prima Categoria. This was the first season in which the Italian Football Championship was contested in all-round-robin format, (other than the excluding the tie-break play-off that was ultimately needed). The play-off was won by Internazionale. Their play-off opponents and champions of the two previous and three subsequent seasons were Pro Vercelli. Vercelli fielded a team of 15-year-old boys to protest against the scheduling of the play-off that season. This was Inter’s first title as Italian champions.
