1908–09 Dumbarton F.C. Season
The 1908–09 season was the 32nd Football in Scotland, Scottish football season in which Dumbarton F.C., Dumbarton competed at national level, entering the Scottish Football League and the Scottish Qualifying Cup. In addition Dumbarton played in the Dumbartonshire Cup. Story of the Season August As a season opener a charity match was played on 8 August with the ‘Probables’ taking on the ‘Impropables’. The result left the selection committee with a bit of a headache as the ‘Improbables’ won 4–0. However the team showed little change from the previous season, with the only departure being Bob McLean to Vale of Leven, while full back John O’Neill (ex Clydebank) and forward William Greer (ex Clyde) were signed up. On 15 August Dumbarton travelled to Kirkcaldy to play last season's champions Raith Rovers in their first league fixture. Dumbarton F
Dumbarton (; , or ; or , meaning 'fort of the Britons (historical), Britons') is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven, Dunbartonshire, River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. In 2006, it had an estimated population of 19,990. Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde, and later the county town of Dunbartonshire. Dumbarton Castle, on top of Dumbarton Rock, dominates the area. Dumbarton was a royal burgh between 1222 and 1975. Leith (; ) is a port area in the north of Edinburgh, Scotland, founded at the mouth of the Water of Leith and is home to the Port of Leith. Beresford Park
Beresford Park was a former football stadium in town of Ayr in Scotland. The ground was the former home of Scottish Football League teams Ayr FC and Ayr Parkhouse before their merger to form Ayr United FC. The ground was located in the centre of the town, adjacent to Burns statue square, where the current Odeon cinema stands. Parkhouse street and Beresford Terrace now stand on the former site of the stadium named after Ayr Parkhouse FC, former tenants of the ground and the ground itself respectively. Merchiston Park
Merchiston Park () was a football ground in Bainsford, near Falkirk, which was the home of East Stirlingshire F.C. between and 1920. It was near Main Street, just north of the Forth and Clyde Canal at Bainsford Bridge. History Early years East Stirlingshire F.C. was formed in 1880 when a group of friends from a cricket team called ''Bainsford Blue Bonnets'' formed a football team under the name ''Britannia''., East Stirlingshire F.C. Millburn Park is a football ground in Alexandria, Scotland. It has been the home ground of Vale of Leven since 1888, hosting Scottish Football League matches between 1890 and 1926. Dunterlie Park was a football ground in Barrhead, Scotland. It was the home ground of Arthurlie between 1906 and 1919, and was the second of three grounds to bear the same name. North End Park, also known as Colliers Den, is a disused playing field in Cowdenbeath. Between 1888 and 1917 the site was a football ground and the home venue of Cowdenbeath F.C. It was later the home ground of Fife amateur club Hearts of Beath and was also used as a greyhound racing stadium from the 1930s until the 1970s, before the site was sold for development. It was the home ground of Leith Athletic and St Bernard's between 1904 and 1926, both having previously played at the neighbouring New Logie Green ground. Somerset Park is a football stadium located in Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland. It has been the home of Scottish Championship team Ayr United since the club was founded in 1910. Prior to that, it was the home ground of Ayr, who merged with Ayr Parkhouse to form Ayr United. The 10,185 capacity stadium was designed by renowned football stadium architect Archibald Leitch.
