1905 Liverpool City Council Election
Elections to Liverpool City Council were held on Wednesday 1 November 1905. There were three new seats: the first seat for Fazakerley, the third seat for Wavertree West and the second seat for Old Swan. This election saw the first Socialist and Labour Councillors elected to the Council. Eleven of the 35 seats were uncontested. Liverpool City Council
Liverpool City Council is the governing body for the city of Liverpool in Merseyside, England. It consists of 90 councillors, three for each of the city's 30 wards. The council is currently controlled by the Labour Party and is led by Mayor Joanne Anderson. It is a constituent council of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. History Liverpool has been a town since 1207 when it was granted its first charter by King John. It has had a town corporation (the Corporation of Liverpool) since before the 19th century, and this was one of the corporations reformed by the Municipal Corporations Act 1835. Fairfield (Liverpool Ward)
Fairfield is an area of Liverpool, in Merseyside, England, encompassing streets between Tuebrook and Kensington and stretching to Old Swan. It consists of a variety of houses; there are some traditional red-brick terraces, larger Victorian villas and also the notable 300-year-old Georgian Fairfield Crescent which is off the equally old Prospect Vale. The area also contains the Victorian Newsham Park; Friends of Newsham Park meet with council officers regularly at the Newsham Park park forum to discuss improvements to the park and are currently anticipating the start on site of the building of a new pavilion. Fairfield is now also home to a new shopping development on Prescot Road, which brings retail stores like Iceland and other shops into this once neglected neighbourhood centre. Prince's Park (Liverpool Ward)
Princes Park is a Liverpool City Council Ward in the Liverpool Riverside Parliamentary constituency. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 17,104. The ward is ethnically diverse, with a 53% white, 16% black, 9% asian and 10% mixed ethnicity population. The ward was formed for the 2004 Municipal elections taking the whole of the former Granby ward with part of the former Abercromby ward. Sir William Rutherford, 1st Baronet
Sir William Watson Rutherford, 1st Baronet (1853 – 3 December 1927) was a Conservative party politician in the United Kingdom who was Member of Parliament and Lord Mayor of Liverpool. Rutherford was an unsuccessful candidate in the 1900 general election for the Liverpool Scotland constituency. He was elected Lord Mayor of Liverpool in November 1902, but resigned in early January 1903 to be the candidate in a by-election for parliament. After he was elected to parliament on 20 January 1903, he was also re-elected as mayor on 4 February 1903 and served the remainder of the term until November 1903. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Liverpool West Derby from the January 1903 by-election until 1918, and for Liverpool Edge Hill from 1918 to 1923. Kensington, Liverpool
Kensington is an inner city area of Liverpool, England, immediately to the east of the city centre, bordered by Everton to the north, Fairfield to the east and Edge Hill to the south. The majority of Kensington is in the Kensington and Fairfield ward, while the westernmost part, Kensington Fields, is in the Central ward. At the 2001 Census, Kensington had a population of 12,740. Description The area is occupied largely by Victorian terraced houses.
