William Pierce Owen
William Pierce Owen (20 November 1860 – 13 December 1937) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a midfielder (winger, sometimes wing half) for Ruthin Town. He made a total of twelve appearances for Wales. Personal life William was the second son of Rev. Elias Owen and older brother of the younger Elias Owen, who also played for Wales. After his playing career, William became a solicitor in Aberystwyth. Club career Owen played with Ruthin Town, one of the leading teams in North Wales at that time. He was part of the Ruthin team that lost the final of the 1880 Welsh Cup against Druids. International appearances Owen made his senior debut on 15 March 1880 and was part of the first Welsh team that achieved an international victory (0–1 against England in 1881). Edward Hagarty Parry
Edward Hagarty Parry (24 April 1855 – 19 July 1931) was a footballer. Born in Canada, he played for the England national team. Early life Born in Toronto, Ontario, where his father served as a clergyman, Parry attended Charterhouse School from 1868 to 1874, and Exeter College, Oxford, where he graduated as B.A. in 1878 and M.A. in 1885. Football career Parry played three times for England, against Wales in 1879 and 1882 and Scotland in 1882. He scored once. He was captain (and goal-scorer) of the Old Carthusians team which won the 1881 FA Cup Final defeating Old Etonians 3–0. He was the first overseas-born captain of an FA Cup winning team, and the last until Irishman Johnny Carey with Manchester United in 1948 (and not Eric Cantona 48 years later). Billy Mosforth
William Mosforth (2 January 1858 – 11 July 1929) was an English footballer who played either as an inside or outside left. Born in Sheffield he played for several Sheffield clubs but the majority of his career was spent at The Wednesday. He later joined Sheffield United, playing in their first season in existence before retiring in 1890. He won nine caps for England between 1877 and 1882, which was a record at the time, scoring three goals for his country. Club career Playing in his home town of Sheffield for his entire career Mosforth was known as the 'Little Wonder' or 'The Sheffield Dodger' due to his small stature. Wrexham ( ; ) is a city status in the United Kingdom, city in the North East Wales, north-east of Wales. George Ker
George Ker (26 February 1860 – 26 February 1922) was a Scottish footballer who played for Queen's Park and the Scotland national team. Football career Ker played for ''Queen's Park Juniors'', ''Kerland FC'', and Alexandra Athletic before joining Queen's Park in 1877. Until 1878, Ker had played as a defender but converted to a striker in 1878. He won the Scottish Cup in 1880, 1881 and 1882, scoring in the 1882 replay win over Dumbarton. After the 1881–82 season he began struggling with injuries and retired early in summer of 1884. He was capped five times by the Scotland national team, scoring ten goals including a hat-trick against England in March 1880.
