Warrap is one of the ten states in South Sudan with its Headquarters at Kuajok. Warrap state is located in the Bahr el Ghazal region. The state was separately established in 2005 following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Sudan People Liberation Movement and the Government of Sudan under the Leadership of president Omar Hassan El Bashir. It subsequently became part of South Sudan after a successful secession from Sudan on 9 July 2011. States Of South Sudan
The States of South Sudan were created out of the three historic former provinces (and contemporary regions) of Bahr el Ghazal (region of South Sudan), Bahr el Ghazal (northwest), Equatoria (southern), and Greater Upper Nile (northeast). The states are further divided into Counties of Southern Sudan, 79 counties. In October 2015, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a decree establishing 28 states in place of the 10 that was previously established. The decree established the new states largely along ethnic lines. A number of opposition parties challenged the constitutionality of this decree and the decree was referred to parliament for approval as a constitutional amendment. In November, the South Sudanese parliament approved the creation of the new states. Twic County
Twic County is a county located in Warrap State, in the Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. History Twic is also known as Twic Mayardit. Twic community played an important role in the liberation of South Sudan. Most notably general figures is Kerubino Kuanyin Bol who was one of the founders of SPLM/SPLA (now Sudan People's Liberation Movement and South Sudan People's Defence Forces). Bol fired the first rebellious shot when the imposition of Islamic Sharia law in September 1983 triggered a second round of civil warfare in the undeveloped, largely animist and Christian southern regions of the Republic of Sudan. The main livelihood of the population of Twic County is farming, livestock rearing, and fishing. There is also a significant number of people engaged in commercial trade. General Akech Tong Aleu is a South Sudanese politician. He served for four months as the Director General of the National Security Service Bureau of the Government of South Sudan. Gen. Akech Tong Aleu began his public service as the Commissioner of Tonj South County, Warrap State in 2012 before serving as Deputy Governor of Warrap State from in the year 2012 to August 2015. Lakes (state)
Lakes is a state in South Sudan. It has an area of 43,595.08 km2. Rumbek is the capital of the state. Lakes is in the Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan, in addition to Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and Warrap states.
