Marios Tokas
Marios Tokas () (8 June 1954 – 27 April 2008) was a Cypriot composer of traditional music born in Limassol, Cyprus. During the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, invasion, he fought as a soldier against the Turkish invaders. In 1975, he went to Athens in order to study in the philosophical school. At the same time, he studied in the Ethniko Odio because he wanted to start a career as a musician. In 2004, Tokas and his six-member orchestra gave a concert in Vienna. The concert was co-organised by the Greece, Greek Society of Austria and the Athens Sports Association "Pantalkis" with the support of the General Secretariat of Culture of Greece, Hellenism Abroad of the Greece, Greek Foreign Ministry, under the auspices of the Greek Cypriots, Cypriot ambassador to Austria. Marios Chakkas (; Makrakomi, 1931 – 5 July 1972) was a Greek writer. He was persecuted due to his political beliefs, especially during the Greek junta. Biography Born in Makrakomi in 1931, he moved with his family to Kaisariani at age 4, where spent his childhood and his youth, and with which he was sentimentally connected, something which is apparent in his work. Aged 19, and while he was studying in the Samaritan (nursing) School of the Hellenic Red Cross, he voluntarily helped the prisoners in Gyaros. Marios Garoyian (; ; born 31 May 1961) is a Cypriot politician. He served as leader of the Democratic Party (Cyprus), Democratic Party from 2006 to 2013 and as President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus from 2008 to 2011. Early life Garoyian was born in Nicosia. He studied political science at the University of Perugia. He has one son and one daughter. He speaks Greek, English, Italian and Spanish fluently. He is of half Armenians, Armenian and half Roman Catholicism in Cyprus, Latin descent. Marios Georgiou (; born 10 November 1997) is a Cypriot artistic gymnast. He is the 2024 European all-around champion, and the 2022 European horizontal bar champion and the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European title, and a major all-around title. He is the 2019 European Championships all-around bronze medalist which made him the first gymnast from Cyprus to win a European medal. He is the 2019 European Games parallel bars silver medalist. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medals in the floor exercise and parallel bars and the bronze medal in the all-around, and he won four bronze medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
