Siale ʻAtaongo Kaho, Lord Tuʻivakanō (born 15 January 1952) is a Tongans, Tongan politician who served as the Prime Minister of Tonga, prime minister of Tonga from 2010 to 2014. Descent and naming Tuʻivakanō was born in Niutoua on Tongatapu as Siale ʻAtaongo Kaho. His parents were Siaosi Kiu Ngalumoetutulu Kiutauivailahi Kao and Fatafehiʻolapaha Liku. He ascended to the traditional Tongan noble title of Tuʻivakanō (literally: ''king of the borrowed boat'') in January 1986 after the death of his father. As customary in Tonga, since that time his baptismal name is no longer used, instead he is referred to as ''Tuʻivakanō'' (without any further qualification), or in more formal surroundings as ''ʻEiki nōpele Tuʻivakanō'', nowadays translated in English as ''Lord (noble) Tuʻivakanō''. Clive Edwards (Tonga)
William Clive Edwards OBE (born 11 January 1934) is a Tongan barrister and politician who formerly served as a Cabinet Minister and acting Deputy Prime Minister. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party. Life and education Edwards was born in Kolofo'ou, Nuku'alofa, Tonga. He was educated at Tonga High School and Auckland Grammar School in New Zealand in 1953 where he gained NZ University Entrance. He studied law at the University of Auckland and practiced in both New Zealand and Tonga before returning to Tonga permanently in 1994. He was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by the New Zealand government in 1995 for services to the community. Political career Edwards began his political career in New Zealand. He stood in the Auckland Central electorate for the National Party in the 1969 and 1972 elections. He was later elected as an Auckland City Councillor on a Citizens & Ratepayers ticket. 2022 Tongatapu By-elections
Three by-elections were held in the Tongan electorates of Tongatapu 4, Tongatapu 6, and Tongatapu 7 on 3 November 2022. The by-elections were triggered by the unseating of cabinet ministers Tatafu Moeaki, Poasi Tei, and Sione Sangster Saulala for bribery following the 2021 Tongan general election. The by-elections were won by Mateni Tapueluelu (Tongatapu 4), Dulcie Tei (Tongatapu 6), and Paula Piukala (Tongatapu 7). Candidate registration for the by-elections was held on September 5 and 6, resulting in five candidates for Tongatapu 4 and Tongatapu 6, and three for Tongatapu 7. 2010 Tongan General Election
Early general elections under a new electoral law were held in Tonga on 25 November 2010. They determined the composition of the 2010 Tongan Legislative Assembly. The early elections were announced by the new King George Tupou V in July 2008 shortly before being crowned on 1 August 2008, and were preceded by a programme of constitutional reform. For the first time, a majority of the seats (17 out of 26) in the Tongan parliament were elected by universal suffrage, with the remaining nine seats being reserved for members of Tonga's nobility.
