Ștefan Ardeleanu
Ștefan Ardeleanu (born 1940) is a Romanian fencing, fencer and coach. Career Ardeleanu took up fencing with coach Alexandru Csipler at local clubs Unio, then Olimpia Satu Mare, before transferring to CSA Steaua București under coach Vasile Chelaru. He won the 1965 junior national championship in sabre, then switched to foil. With Ion Drîmbă, Iuliu Falb, Tănase Mureșanu and Mihai Țiu, he earned Romania's first team world title in fencing at the 1967 World Fencing Championships in Montreal. After his retirement as a fencer, he began a fencing coach career at CS Triumful in Bucharest. He assisted Ștefan Haukler as coach of the national woman's foil team from 1978 to 1980, before becoming principal coach. In 1992 he settled in Kuwait, then came back in 1998 to CS Satu Mare. Iuliu Falb
Iuliu Falb (14 December 1942 – 2009) was a Romanian fencer. He competed in the team foil events at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics. Career Falb took up fencing under the coaching of Andrei Altman at the local club "„Flacăra RoÈ™ie”", where he became friends with future teammate and Olympic champion Ion Drîmbă. He transferred in 1961 to CSA Steaua with coaches Constantin Panescu and Vasile Chelaru. He was national champion in 1965, 1966 and 1967. Suzana Ardeleanu
Suzana Ardeleanu ( Suzana Tași; born 8 March 1946) is a Romanian fencer. She competed in the women's individual and team foil events at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Career Ardeleanu learnt fencing at a local club under coach Alexandru Csipler. She transferred in 1964 along with Ecaterina Iencic and Ileana Gyulai to CSA Steaua București, which are related to the football team Steaua Bucharest, where she was trained by Andrei Vâlcea. Along with Olga Szabo, Maria Vicol, Ana Ene-Derșidan and Ileana Gyulai, she became team world champion at the 1969 World Fencing Championships in Havana. Ștefan Haukler
Ștefan Haukler (9 March 1942 – 23 November 2006) was a Romanian fencer and coach. Career Haukler took up fencing at the age of ten under the coaching of Alexandru Csipler at local clubs Unio, then Olimpia Satu Mare. He won three titles of national champion in épée, first in the junior category, then in the senior category. With the Romanian national team he won bronze medals in the 1969 and the 1970 World Championships. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics. After his retirement as an athlete, he became a fencing coach and worked with his former master Alexandru Csipler. He was principal coach of the national women's foil team from 1980 to 1986. Assisted by Ștefan Ardeleanu and Tudor Petruș, he led Aurora Dan, Monika Weber-Koszto, Rozalia Oros, Marcela Moldovan-Zsak and Elisabeta Guzganu-Tufan to a silver medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics. Tănase Mureșanu
Tănase MureÈ™anu (22 May 1940 – 6 March 2007) is a Romanian foil fencer. Career MureÈ™anu took up fencing when he was 11 years old under coach Angelo Pellegrini at CS Progresul in Bucharest. He won the junior national championship in 1956 and 1957, then the senior championship in 1957, 1958 and 1963. He took a bronze medal in the 1958 Junior World Criterium in Bucharest and in the 1959 edition in Paris, both in foil and sabre. In 1964 he transferred to CSA Steaua with coach Vasile Chelaru. Along with Iuliu Falb, Ion Drîmbă, Ștefan Ardeleanu and Mihai Èšiu, he earned Romania's first team world title in fencing at the 1967 World Championships in Montreal. Ion Drîmbă
Ionel Alexandru "Ion" Drîmbă (also Drâmbă, March 18, 1942 – February 20, 2006) was a Romanian fencer. He competed at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympics and won the first ever Olympic gold medal in fencing for Romania in 1968. Biography Drîmbă was born in 1942 in Timișoara, in a working-class family. His father worked at the post office. He took up fencing aged 8 at the local club "Flacăra roșie" following his elder brother and quickly showed talent: he competed with seniors from the age of 13 both in foil and sabre and joined the national foil team at age 16. In 1959, he won the junior national championships in both weapons. Drîmbă transferred to CSA Steaua București in 1960, when he was 18.
