Șcheiu (Brașov)
The Șcheiu or Cheu is a small river in the city of Brașov, Romania. It is intercepted by the Canalul Timiș (Timiș Canal). The upper reach of the river, upstream of Brașov, is also known as the ''Oabăn''. The lower reach of the river was channelized so as to flow along the walls of the medieval city, contributing to the defenses of the city; this reach is also known as the ''Graft''. Postăvarul Massif
The Postăvarul massif (Transylvanian Saxons, Transylvanian German ''Schuler'' and ''Schulerberg'', or Hungarian language, Hungarian ''Keresztényhavas'') is a massif in Romania; it is part of the Romanian Carpathians, which in turn are part of the Carpathian Mountains range. The altitude of the highest peak, also named Postăvarul is 1799 metres. Geographically the Postăvarul Massif stands at the southern end of the grand arc of the Eastern Carpathians. Together with the neighboring Piatra Mare Mountains, Piatra Mare Massif it forms the Bârsei Mountains group, neighbouring the southern side of Burzenland, Țara Bârsei (Burzenland) depression. Poiana Brașov, one of the best-known ski resorts in Romania, is located on the northern slopes of Postăvarul mountain. Canalul TimiÈ™
The Canalul Timiș (Timiș Canal) is a canal linking the rivers Timiș and Ghimbășel in Brașov County, central Romania. It is long, and was first documented in the year 1500. The canal starts at Dâmbul Morii near Timișu de Jos, running parallel to the river Timiș until Dârste, where it turns to the northwest. It passes north of the historic centre of Brașov, and discharges into the Ghimbășel in Stupini, a northern neighbourhood of Brașov. Șcheii Brașovului
Șcheii Brașovului (, or more recently ''Obere Vorstadt''; traditional Romanian name: ''Bulgărimea'', colloquially ''Șchei'') is the old ethnically Bulgarian and Romanian neighborhood of Brașov, a city in southeastern Transylvania, Romania. This village-like section of the town is mostly made up of small houses built along narrow roads with gardens and small fields on the slopes of the Tâmpa Mountain. History Until the 17th century, the inhabitants of Șchei were forbidden from owning property inside the city walls. The people living in the Șchei could only enter the town at certain times and had to pay a toll at the Catherine's Gate for the privilege of selling their produce inside the town.
