Željko Matuš
Željko Matuš (born 9 August 1935 in Donja Stubica) is a former Croatian-Yugoslavian football (soccer), footballer. He was part of the Yugoslav squad that won gold at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Club career During his club career he played for NK Dinamo Zagreb, SC Young Fellows Juventus, SC Young Fellows and FC Zürich. International career He earned 13 caps for the Yugoslavia national football team, and took part in the 1960 European Nations' Cup and the 1962 FIFA World Cup. He also played a Croatia v Indonesia (1956), friendly match for the Croatia national football team, PR Croatia national team against Indonesia national football team, Indonesia in 1956, in which he scored a goal. His final international was a September 1962 friendly match against West Germany national football team, West Germany. After the death of Viktor Ponedelnik in December 2020, Matuš became the last living participant of the 1960 European Nations' Cup Final. References External links * * ... Donja Stubica () is a town in Croatia, about northeast of Zagreb on the northern slope of Medvednica. It is connected by the D307 road (Croatia), state road D307 and L202 railway (Croatia), L202 railway. The total population is 5,680, with 2,200 people in Donja Stubica itself (census 2011), with a total area of 44.6 km2. Viktor Ponedelnik
Viktor Vladimirovich Ponedelnik (, 22 May 1937 – 5 December 2020) was a Russian footballer and manager, who played for the Soviet Union national team. Biography Ponedelnik first started playing for a local team, Rostselmash, in 1956. In 1958, he switched to ''SKA Rostov-on-Don'' and was invited to join the Soviet national team. In the 1960 European Championship, the only major Championship ever won by the Soviet Union, Ponedelnik headed home the winning goal in extra time in the final game against Yugoslavia. Ponedelnik retired in 1966 after gaining weight and undergoing surgery for appendicitis. He scored 20 (according to some accounts, 21) goals in 29 games for his country.
