Žarko Tatić
Žarko M. Tatić ( sr-Cyrl, Жарко М. Татић; 18941931) was a renowned Serbian-Yugoslavian architect and art historian active in the first decades of the 20th century. His field of research was the history of Medieval Serbian architecture in the country and beyond (Mount Athos). He was among the first Serbian art historians to conduct research on Mount Athos. During his stay in the region, in 1923, Tatić carried out a detailed study of the medieval architecture of the area. In the same year, the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences decided to send an expedition to Mount Athos and Hilandar monastery, to study its architecture. Tatić's results were first published in the newspaper Politika ( sr-Cyrl, Политика, lit=Politics) is a Serbian daily newspaper, published in Belgrade. Founded in 1904 by Vladislav F. An architect is a person who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings. To practice architecture means to provide services in connection with the design of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings that have human occupancy or use as their principal purpose. Mount Athos
Mount Athos (; ) is a mountain on the Athos peninsula in northeastern Greece directly on the Aegean Sea. It is an important center of Eastern Orthodoxy, Eastern Orthodox monasticism. Hilandar
The Hilandar Monastery (, , , ) is one of the twenty Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Mount Athos in Greece and the only Serbian Orthodox monastery there. It was founded in 1198 by two Serbs from the Grand Principality of Serbia, Stefan Nemanja (Saint Symeon) and his son Saint Sava. St. Symeon was the former Grand Prince of Serbia (1166–1196) who upon relinquishing his throne took monastic vows and became an ordinary monk. He joined his son Saint Sava who was already in Mount Athos and who later became the first Archbishop of Serbia. Upon its foundation, the monastery became a focal point of the Serbian religious and cultural life, as well as assumed the role of "the first Serbian university".
