Žarko Dolinar
Žarko Dolinar (3 July 1920 – 9 March 2003) was a Croatian biologist and table tennis player who won eight medals at the World Table Tennis Championships. He was born in a family of Slovene economic immigrants to Croatia. In 1939, at the age of 18 he became the national champion of Yugoslavia. Dolinar was champion of the Independent State of Croatia multiple times, and also competed for its national team on nine occasions. He also won three English Open titles. Dolinar is one of few world sporting champions with a Ph.D. degree. He graduated from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1949, and received a doctorate in 1959. He was world doubles champion with his partner, Vilim Harangozo. Dolinar was also head of the Sports Science Committee for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Vilim Harangozo
Vilim Harangozo (, sr-cyr, Вилим Харангозо) was an ethnic Hungarian former table tennis player from Yugoslavia. Table tennis career From 1951 to 1958 Harangozo won several medals in singles, doubles, and team events in the Table Tennis European Championships and in the World Table Tennis Championships. His four World Championship medals included a gold medal in the doubles at the 1954 World Table Tennis Championships with Žarko Dolinar. He also won three English Open titles. Football Harangozo also played as footballer at FK Spartak Subotica in the Yugoslav First League during the late 1940s. The awards originated in the early 1950s and went on to become one of the most prestigious Croatian sports awards. The winners are decided by polling sports journalists from around the country. Bernard Vukas
Bernard Vukas (1 May 1927 – 4 April 1983) was a Croatian Association football, footballer who played for Yugoslavia. Vukas played as a Midfielder#Winger, left winger/Forward (association football), forward and is mostly remembered for his extraordinary Dribbling#Association football, dribbling ability. In 2000, he was voted by the Croatian Football Federation as the best Croatian player of all time, and in another poll by ''Večernji List'' he was voted Best Croatian Athlete of the 20th Century. Club career Vukas started his career in the youth ranks of Concordia Zagreb. After WW2, he spent some time in NK Amater Zagreb before moving to Hajduk Split in 1947. He stayed in Hajduk until 1957, playing 202 games and scoring 89 goals. With Hajduk, Vukas won the Yugoslav First League title on three occasions, in 1950, 1952 and 1955, and he was the league's top scorer in the 1954–55 season with 20 goals. Perica Vlašić
Perica Vlašić (2 June 1932 – 12 August 2004) was a Croatian rower who competed for Yugoslavia at the 1956 Summer Olympics and at the 1960 Summer Olympics. He also competed in seven European Rowing Championships and won eight consecutive Yugoslav championships in the single scull, as well as seven double scull national championships. Biography Perica Vlašić was born in Vela Luka on the island of Korčula in Croatia. In 1947, he began rowing for VK Ošjak, a local rowing club that was founded in the same year. Racing for the club in a coxed four, he had four consecutive wins at youth level in the Croatian national championships from 1948 to 1951 although in 1950 he turned to sculling. In 1952, he went into compulsory military service in the Yugoslav Army, and served in Pula, where he was spotted by Luka Marasović the rowing coach.
