Beetle
Beetles are insects that form the Taxonomic rank, order Coleoptera (), in the superorder Holometabola. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects. Zhuk Class Patrol Boat
The Zhuk-class patrol boat, Soviet designation Project 1400 "Grif", is a class of small border patrol vessels built in the Soviet Union and its successor states. Over 300 boats were built between 1969 and 1991. The vessels were primarily used by the KGB Border Troop Maritime Units. The vessels had a cheap design suitable for mass production, with a single simple radar unit and manually-aimed machine guns. The Zhuk-class was widely exported to over 20 countries. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, it was distributed to its successor states, with the majority taken over by the Russian Federal Coast Guard. By 2007 only 15-20 remained in service with the Russian Navy. The Zhuk are a family of Russian (former USSR) all-weather multimode airborne radars developed by NIIR Phazotron for multi-role combat aircraft such as the MiG-29. The PESA versions were also known as Sokol. Description The Zhuk (Beetle) family of X band pulse-Doppler radars provide aircraft with two modes of operation, air-to-air and air-to-surface. The air-to-air mode of the Zhuk is capable of detecting targets and measuring their coordinates, range and speed. The radar has a look-down/shoot-down capability for air targets against a cluttered or water background and a variety of search modes are available. Individual targets can be tracked or multiple targets can be tracked and engaged at once while searching for new targets in track while scan mode. FSC Żuk
The Żuk (polish language, pl. ''beetle'') is a van and light truck produced in Lublin, Poland, between 1958 and 1998 by Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych, FSC. It was based on FSO Warszawa, which in turn was licensed from the Soviet passenger car GAZ-M20 Pobeda. The chassis, suspension and engine from FSO Warszawa formed the basis of the Żuk and the Nysa (van), Nysa light vans designed in the late 1950s. About were manufactured. The Żuk was mainly sold to state organizations, but also to individuals. After 1989, with the liberalization of the Polish economy, the Żuk was able to maintain sales to the traditional markets and expand the number sold to individual consumers. The BŻ-4 Żuk ("Beetle" in Polish), formerly known as GIL-4, was a Polish four-seat light helicopter built in the 1950s. Although it pioneered a novel rotor and transmission system, it never entered series production. Design and development Work on the GIL-4 began at the ''Główny Instytut Lotnictwa'' - Main Aviation Institute (GIL), in Warsaw in 1953, under the leadership of Dipl. Ing. Bronisław Żurakowski, who had earlier designed the experimental BŻ-1 GIL helicopter, the first successful rotating-wing aircraft built in Poland. Progress was slow.
