The Maltese Challenge League (referred to as the Bank of Valletta, BOV Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest division in Football in Malta, Maltese football, behind the Maltese Premier League. The First Division was the precursor of the present Premier League until the latter was revamped for the 1980–81 Maltese Premier League, 1980–81 season with the Maltese Challenge League instituted for the 2020-21 Maltese Challenge League, 2020–21 season following the premature end of the previous season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2021–22 Maltese Challenge League
The 2021–22 Maltese Challenge League (referred to as the BOV Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) was the second-level league football in Malta. It was the second season that the competition ran in its present form. Following the decision of the Maltese Football Association Executive Committee, the teams that had finished in the promotion and relegation places in the previous Challenge League season would remain in the Challenge League in the 2021-22 season (with the exception of Qormi, due to less than 75% of the matches having been completed in the competition. Relegation from the Premier League and promotion from the National Amateur League remained in place due to these competitions being adequately completed. This season therefore saw twenty-two teams competed rather than the sixteen that had been originally expected. Stefan Janković ( sr-Cyrl, Стефан Јанковић; born 11 November 1997) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Maltese club Żebbuġ Rangers. Stanimir Milošković (; born 21 December 1983) is a Serbian professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Born in Kragujevac, Milošković played for his hometown clubs Radnički and Šumadija, before moving abroad to Greece and joining Beta Ethniki side Kalamata in the summer of 2005. Żebbuġ ( ), also known by its title Città Rohan, is a city in the Western Region of Malta. It is one of the oldest towns in the country, and its population is 11,074 as of June 2021. History and origins The parish church is dedicated to Philip of Agira and the feast is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of June, although the actual feast day falls on the 12th day of May. The name of the town literally means "olives" in Maltese; it derives from the large olive groves that stood in and around the current location of the church and the centre of the town.
