HSC 2000 Coburg is a handball club from Coburg, Germany. Currently, they compete in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga. The club was founded in 2000 as ''HSC 2000 Coburg-Neuses'' when TV Neuses and HSG Coburg merged. In 2019-2020 they won the 2. Czech Republic Men's National Handball Team
The Czech Republic national handball team is the national handball team of the Czech Republic. It was most successful in the mid-1990s, with sixth place at the 1996 European Championship and a win over the later runners-up Croatia at the 1995 World Championship, but the team have failed to qualify for major championships on several occasions since. Before the Czech Republic became independent in 1993, the Czechoslovakia national team won five World Championship medals between 1954 and 1967, and qualified for every World Championship between 1954 and 1993. However, the Czech federation were admitted in time to attempt to qualify for the first European Championship in 1994. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. VfL Gummersbach is a professional handball club from the German city of Gummersbach, North Rhine-Westphalia. Currently, VfL Gummersbach competes in the Handball-Bundesliga and the DHB-Pokal. The club has seen great success, especially from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. History The club was founded as a multisports club on March 3rd 1861 as ''Gummersbacher Turnverein''(GTV). The youth department was founded in 1884, and in 1906 women were included as members. The handball department was founded in 1925. While field handball was the most popular variant in Germany at the time, Gummersbach focused on indoor handball. In 1966 the club won the German Championship for the first time. 2018 European Men's Handball Championship
The 2018 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the tournament, hosted for the second time in Croatia from 12 to 28 January 2018. Croatia was awarded hosting the tournament during the EHF congress in Dublin on 20 September 2014. This was the last edition to feature 16 teams, with the 2020 edition expanding to 24 teams and six preliminary groups format. Spain won their first title after defeating Sweden 29–23 in the final.
