Štefan Planinc
Štefan Planinc (8 September 1925–2017) was a Slovenes, Slovene Surrealism, surrealist painting, painter also known for his illustrator, illustrations for newspapers, magazines and books. Planinc was born in Ljubljana in 1925. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana, Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and has received numerous awards for his works. He won the Levstik Award in 1959 and 1965. Tone Pavček
Tone Pavček (; 29 September 1928 – 21 October 2011) was one of the most influential Slovene people, Slovene poets, translators, and essayists from the first post-World War II, war generation. He published numerous collections of poetry, well received by readers and critics alike. He also translated a number of Russian works into Slovene language, Slovene. Biography Early life Tone Pavček was born on 29 September 1928 at Šentjurij na Dolenjskem, Šentjurij in southeastern Slovenia. He attended the first grade of elementary school in Mirna Peč, but was soon sent to a boarding school in Ljubljana. There he graduated from a classical high school, and went on to study law, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1954, although he never performed legal services. France Bevk
France Bevk () (17 September 1890 – 17 September 1970) was a Slovene writer, poet and translator. He also wrote under the pseudonym Pavle Sedmak. Biography Bevk was born in the mountain village of Zakojca (Coizza during Italian rule, now part of the Municipality of Cerkno) in the County of Gorizia and Gradisca of what was then the Austro-Hungarian Empire, now in Slovenia. He was the oldest of eight children born to the tenant farmer and shoemaker Ivan Bevk and his wife Katarina (née Čufer).Information display at the France Bevk home in Zakojca. Bevk attended school in Bukovo until 1904, and then in Kranj (1905), Koper (1908), and Gorizia (1909), and became a teacher in the Slovene Littoral. Anton Ingolič
Anton Ingolič (5 January 1907 – 11 March 1992) was a Slovene writer, playwright, and editor. He is best known for his novels and youth literature. Ingolič was born in Spodnja Polskava near Slovenska Bistrica in the Austro-Hungarian Duchy of Styria (present-day eastern Slovenia). He went to the local school and completed his secondary education in Maribor before studying in Ljubljana and Paris. He worked as a secondary-school Slovene and French language teacher in Ptuj, Maribor, and Ljubljana. He was editor of the journal ''Nova Obzorja'' and became a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1976. He won the Prešeren Award twice, in 1949 for his novel ''Pot po nasipu'' and in 1978 for his literary opus for youth and adults. Vid Pečjak
Vid Pečjak (7 January 1929 – 27 February 2016) was a Slovene author and psychologist. Pečjak was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. His father was Rudolf Pečjak. Vid Pečjak has written 90 books, two thirds in the field of psychology. Most of his literary works are science fiction stories, novels, novelettes and also travel diaries and comic strip. Some of his works were written under his pseudonym ''Div Kajčep'' (palindrome of his name). Pečjak is perhaps best known for his SF novel for children and youth ''Drejček in trije marsovčki'' (''Drejček and Three Little Martians'') (1961), which concerns a little boy named Drejček (Andy) who meets three little Martian Mars, the fourth planet from the Sun, has appeared as a setting in works of fiction since at least the mid-1600s. Žarko Petan
Žarko Petan Žarko Petan (27 March 1929 – 2 May 2014) was a Slovenian writer, essayist, screenwriter, and theatre and film director. He is best known as a writer of aphorisms. Petan was born into a relatively wealthy urban middle-class family in Ljubljana, Slovenia, then part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He spent his childhood in Zagreb, Croatia, where his father owned a hotel in the city centre. In 1940, the family moved to Maribor in Slovenia, where they owned a café. After the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941, they moved to Trieste to escape Nazi German persecution. After the end of World War II, they returned to Maribor. Petan soon entered into conflict with the new Communist regime. In 1949, while serving in the Yugoslav People's Army, he was accused of enemy propaganda and sentenced to 9 years in jail.
