Å mihel (, ) is a village south of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlet of Ravne () to the west. Name The name of the settlement was changed from ''Å mihel na Krasu'' (literally, 'Saint Michael on the Karst') to ''Dolane'' in 1952. The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms. The name ''Å mihel'' was restored in 1990. Å mihel pod Nanosom (; ) is a village in the eastern foothills of Mount Nanos in the Municipality of Postojna in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Archaeological site North of the settlement, a site known as Grad is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Inner Carniola region. This prehistoric site attracted much attention in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when it was suggested that it was the site of Metalum, one of the main settlement of the Iapydes. Although this is no longer claimed, the site remains one of the most important bases for the definition and chronology of the Iron Age culture known as the Inner Carniola Iron Age Group, with continuous settlement between the 8th and 2nd centuries BC. Šmihel, Laško
Šmihel () is a settlement in the Municipality of Laško in eastern Slovenia. It lies on a hill above the right bank of the Savinja River, just west of Laško. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Savinja Statistical Region. The local church, from which the settlement gets its name, is dedicated to Saint Michael and belongs to the Parish of Laško.
