Å mihel (, ) is a village south of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlet of Ravne () to the west. Name The name of the settlement was changed from ''Å mihel na Krasu'' (literally, 'Saint Michael on the Karst') to ''Dolane'' in 1952. The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms. The name ''Å mihel'' was restored in 1990. Šmihel pri Žužemberku () is a village on the right bank of the Krka (Slovenia), Krka River in the Municipality of Žužemberk in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. Name The name of the settlement was changed from ''Šmihel'' to ''Šmihel pri Žužemberku'' in 1955. Church The local church (building), church from which the settlement gets its name is dedicated to Michael (archangel), Saint Michael and belongs to the Parish of Žužemberk.
