Šangaj ( sr-cyr, Шангај) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. It is situated close to the Danube, and is surrounded by the Industrial zones of Novi Sad, Novi Sad industrial zones, right next to the oil refinery of Naftna Industrija Srbije. It covers an area of 0.13 km2. Name The old name of the area was Vrbak. In the Interwar period, the name of the settlement was Brančićevo Naselje ("Brančić's settlement"), named after Brančić, who was the owner of the ''Šangaj'' snack bar, the first building built there. "Šangaj" was later adopted as the official name. The name ''Šangaj'' itself is the Serbian transliteration for Shanghai, the largest city of the People's Republic of China. 1999 NATO Bombing In Novi Sad

The Kosovo War (; sr-Cyrl-Latn, Косовски рат, Kosovski rat) was an armed conflict in Kosovo that lasted from 28 February 1998 until 11 June 1999.
