Åžifa University
This is a list of educational institutions that were shut down in the course of the 2016 Turkish purges. On 23 July 2016, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shut down 1,043 private schools, 1,229 charities and foundations, 19 trade unions, 15 universities and 35 medical institutions in his first emergency decree under the newly adopted emergency legislation. 2016 Turkish Purges
Since 2016, the Government of Turkey, government of Turkey has conducted a series of purges, enabled by a Martial law and state of emergency in Turkey, state of emergency in reaction to the 2016 Turkish coup attempt, failed coup attempt on 15 July that year. The purges began with the arrest of Turkish Armed Forces personnel reportedly linked to the coup attempt, but arrests were expanded to include other elements of the Turkish military, Ministries of Turkey, civil servants, and private citizens. Later actions reflected a power struggle between secularist and Islamism, Islamist political elites in Turkey, which affected people who were not active in nor aware of the coup but who the government claimed were connected with the Gülen movement, an opposition group which the government blamed for the coup. Zirve University
The Zirve University ( Turkish: ''Zirve Üniversitesi'') was a private university established in 2009, located in Gaziantep, southeastern Anatolia, Turkey. The university had eight faculties. It was a mix-oriented (research and education) institution. English language was the primary medium of teaching in College of Engineering, College of Architecture and Design, and College of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Turkish language was the primary medium of teaching for the rest of colleges while several courses were also offered in English. The university had total enrollment of more than 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students in 2016. Around 20% of the students were offered tuition-free education while another 20% were offered 50% tuition scholarship based on their success at National University Entrance Exam done by ÖSYM. Turkish Air Force Academy
The Turkish Air Force Academy (TAFA; ) is a co-educational military academy located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is part of the National Defence University. It is the main human resource for the Turkish Air Force Command. It was founded in 1951, replacing the Army Flight School, with the mandate to train the officers of the Turkish Air Force. The academy provides an engineering education to Air Force cadets from Turkey as well as a number of other countries, and prepares them for careers in their respective Air Forces.
