Şevket Sabancı
Şevket Sabancı (1936 – 22 July 2021) was a Turkish billionaire businessman and philanthropist, and a second-generation member of the Sabancı family. Biography He was born 1936 in Kayseri, Turkey, as the fourth son of Hacı Ömer Sabancı, a self-made wealthy trader, and Sadıka. Şevket was educated in textile engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in England. Returning home, he worked at managerial positions in a number of textile companies owned by his family. After 1980, he went abroad to represent Sabancı Holding. In 2000 Şevket Sabancı founded Esas Holding, which is today the largest alternative investment firm in Turkey, managing close to $10 billion. Şevket Sabancı was also a founding member of the Sabancı Foundation VakSA. He was married to Hayırlı Zerrin, with whom he has two daughters Emine Kamışlı, Sadıka Sabancı, and a son Ali Sabancı. Talas, Turkey
Talas is a municipality and district of Kayseri Province, Turkey. Its area is 444 km2, and its population is 169,214 (2022). It is located about 7 km from the city of Kayseri and has evolved from an independent town to a satellite city of Kayseri. Talas is connected to Kayseri by road and by the Kayseray mass transit system. History The history of Talas dates back to 1500 BC. Its name first appears in 1070 AD as Moutaláskê, when it was mentioned for the first time when referring to St. Sabas as Moutalaske. Ahval
Ahval is an Emirati-funded online news website that solely reports on Turkey. The site was launched in 2017. Turkish journalist Yavuz Baydar is the current editor-in-chief. The name ''Ahval'' means "events" and is a Turkish Arabism derivation from "ahwal". In February 2018, Ahval was blocked by the Turkish government for users in Turkey. In an interview with observatoireturquie.fr, Baydar stated that the site has 230,000 daily visitors. Talking to German newspaper ''Süddeutsche Zeitung'', Baydar said that the creation of Ahval aimed "to fill a gap caused by media bans and self-censorship in Turkey." The (English language) pages do not show any new articles since early November 2022. Ownership The website is owned by Ahval News Ltd, which is based in Cyprus. History Bridgepoint was founded as NatWest Equity Partners, a private equity firm part of NatWest. One of its early employees was William Jackson, who joined as a graduate in 1986.
