Şerif Yenen
Şerif Yenen (born 17 May 1963) is a Turkish travel specialist, tour guide, travel writer, film-maker, international keynote speaker and lecturer. He wrote '' Turkish Odyssey'' in English, the “first guidebook of Turkey ever written by a Turk”. Yenen gives lectures about travel and Turkish history and culture, the majority of which are in academic communities. His guidebooks are used as textbooks or are on suggested reading lists at various universities, and his articles and columns are published in international magazines and national newspapers. Biography Early life and education Şerif Yenen was born into a middle-class family in the town of Ödemiş near İzmir in 1963. Ödemiş
Ödemiş () is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,019 km2, and its population is 132,740 (2022). It is located 113 km southeast of the city of İzmir. About 4 km north of Ödemiş town are the ruins of Hypaepa. The historical importance of the region is also reflected by the small town of Birgi, east of Ödemiş, which was the capital of the Aydınids, which has examples of Seljuq and Ottoman architecture. Istanbul Unveiled
Istanbul Unveiled is a 61-minute travel documentary film produced in English about Istanbul and Turkish culture in 2013. Scriptwriter Şerif Yenen co-produced the film with Saadet Özen and co-directed it with Levent Ayasli. Hosted by American actress Jessica Berkmen, the footage took more than 2 years. The musical pieces composed by Mercan Dede, Baba Zula and Burhan Öçal have been used.
