''The Waterfall'' () is a 2001 Turkish comedy-drama film, written and directed by Semir Aslanyürek, about a famous painter returning to his hometown to remember his childhood in a politically divided home just before the 1960 military coup d'état. The film, which went on nationwide general release across Turkey on , was described by author Rekin Teksoy as a "lively, fresh look at the director's childhood." Tuncel Kurtiz
Tuncel Tayanç Kurtiz (1 February 1936 – 27 September 2013) was a Turkish theatre, movie and TV series actor, playwright, and film director. Since 1964, he acted in more than 70 movies, including many international productions. Early years He was born in , Kocaeli, a town in Turkey. His father was a district governor (kaymakam) and his mother is of Bosniak descent a teacher. His parents' occupation was the reason the family toured many places across the country. After graduating from the HaydarpaÅŸa High School in Istanbul, Kurtiz studied English philology at Istanbul University. Career He soon started a career as an actor playing theatres. Since 1958, Kurtiz performed on many stages in Istanbul, in state and private theatres. Hülya Koçyiğit
Hülya Koçyiğit (born 12 December 1947) is a Turkish actress. A prominent female lead in the Turkish cinema, she received numerous awards at international film festivals, including the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Altogether, she has acted in some 180 films. Biography Koçyiğit's father is a Turkish immigrant from Bulgaria. She grew up in Istanbul and finished her secondary education in Ankara, where she attended Atatürk High School for Girls. After she then enrolled in Ankara Academy of State Art's ballet department for education in the arts, she continued ballet department of Istanbul City Conservatory. She joined Istanbul City Theatre during her middle education. After Muhsin Ertuğrul suggested, she studied in theatre department of Ankara State Conservatory. Koçyiğit decided to venture into cinema in 1963 after she was the runner-up in a beauty contest organized by the magazine ''Ses'' (literally: ''Sound''). Aykut Oray
Aykut Oray (13 October 1942 – 11 August 2009) was a Turkish actor active between 1963 and 2009. He was, perhaps, best known for his work on the Turkish dramatic comedy series, ''Bizimkiler''. Oray also had a brief career in politics during his later life, becoming a member of the Republican People's Party. Oray was born in Üsküdar, Istanbul, Turkey, on 13 October 1942. He had been a professional actor since 1963, appearing in both film and television roles. Oray was found dead in his hotel room in Köyceğiz, Muğla Province, Turkey, on the Aegean Sea, on 11 August 2009. An autopsy carried out in Istanbul revealed that he had died of a heart attack. Oray had been staying in Köyceğiz while attending a local film festival. He was survived by his wife and two children.
