Ōtarō Maijō
is a Japanese people, Japanese novelist from Fukui Prefecture. Winner of the 19th Mephisto Prize for ''Smoke, Soil, or Sacrifices'', and the 16th Mishima Yukio Prize for ''Asura Girl''. His short story, "Drill Hole in the Brain" was translated into English as part of Del Rey's ''Faust (magazine), Faust'' anthology, and described by the Anime News Network as the "crowning glory" of the anthology. Style Many of Maijō's novels are set in Fukui Prefecture, Fukui and make extensive use of that dialect. He is known for an aggressive, colloquial writing style. His early works were mystery novels, but he has branched out into literary magazines. He illustrates much of his own work, and has contributed several brief manga to ''Faust (magazine), Faust''. Japan Animator Expo
is a weekly series of original net animations released as part of a collaboration between Hideaki Anno's Studio Khara and Dwango, consisting of various anime shorts produced by many directors. The project began release from 7 November 2014 to 9 October 2015 and is streamed worldwide on Niconico. Production The project was first announced by Hideaki Anno at the 2014 Tokyo International Film Festival as an effort to offer new animators more exposure to a worldwide audience. The project's logo was designed by Hayao Miyazaki. All characters are voiced by Koichi Yamadera and Megumi Hayashibara. As of December 2018, the website along with all materials and contents related to it have been temporarily closed off to the public. They make mention of reuploading this content at a later date under a new domain. The Dragon Dentist
is an 8-minute-long original net animation written and directed by Ōtarō Maijō that was released as the first part of Hideaki Anno's weekly series ''Japan Animator Expo''. The story follows a girl who is tasked with becoming a dentist for a dragon. A two-part anime television special adaptation was aired in February 2017. Synopsis Nonoko is a newly appointed dentist and her mission is to protect the dragon, the guardian of the country, from tooth-cavity bacteria. One day, amid increasingly fierce battles with the neighboring country, Nonoko finds on the dragon's tooth an unconscious boy soldier from the enemy country. His name is Bell, and he has been resurrected from inside the tooth by the dragon—a supernatural phenomenon that legend says occurs before a major disaster. Giant God Warrior Appears In Tokyo
is a 2012 Japanese ''kaiju'' short film directed by Shinji Higuchi. A live-action prequel and spin-off of Hayao Miyazaki's 1984 anime film ''Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind'', the film is a co-production between Studio Ghibli, Special Effects Laboratory Co., Ltd, and Khara, Inc. In the film, a woman from Tokyo recounts how her city was obliterated within hours by giant divine warriors. , known professionally as Oh! great, is a Japanese manga artist best known for his manga series '' Tenjho Tenge'' (1997–2010) and '' Air Gear'' (2002–2012). Thomas Douglas Jones (January 26, 1945 – October 14, 2016) was an American writer, primarily of short stories. Biography Jones was raised in Aurora, Illinois, where he went to public schools. He went to college at the University of Hawaii, where he played catcher on the baseball team. He later attended the University of Washington, from which he graduated in 1970. He studied at the Iowa Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa, from which he received an M.F.A. in 1973. Kei Aoyama
was a Japanese manga artist. He graduated from the Department of Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University. He made his professional debut in 2003 with the one-shot "", winning ''Monthly Ikki'' magazine's Ikiman award for rookie artists. On October 9, 2011, an employee of Aoyama's publisher Kodansha called the police because they had not been able to contact him for several days.
