Łuczyna is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Dobroszyce, within Oleśnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Łuczyna lies approximately north-west of Dobroszyce, north-west of Oleśnica, and north-east of the regional capital Wrocław. The village has a combined area of 1,846 hectares, and the population of 472 as of 2009. History Łuczyna was founded as "Luzina" on 20 April 1251 by Bishop Tomasz I of Wrocław. __NOTOC__ Gmina Dobroszyce is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Oleśnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Its seat is the village of Dobroszyce, which lies approximately north-west of Oleśnica, and north-east of the regional capital Wrocław. Tomasz I, Bishop Of Wrocław
Tomasz I (d. 1268) was a Bishop of Wrocław, Poland in the thirteenth century. He was in office from 1232 until he died on 30 May 1268. He is considered one of the most significant bishops of Wrocław diocese and is known for his role in the Germanification of Silesia, building programs, and promoting church interests in secular politics. He promoted the process of German colonization in Silesia that resulted in Wrocław being known by the German name Breslau and establishing a demographic feature that was of major significance in World War II. His defence of the rights of the Church took him into bitter conflicts with Bolesław II the Horned, Duke of Legnica, with Tomasz I being kidnapped at one time by the duke. Oleśnica
Oleśnica (; ) is a town in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, within the Wrocław metropolitan area. It is the administrative seat of Oleśnica County and also of the rural district of Gmina Oleśnica, although it is not part of the territory of the latter, the town being an urban gmina in its own right. Dobroszyce
Dobroszyce () () is a village in Oleśnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district (gmina) called Gmina Dobroszyce. It lies approximately north-west of Oleśnica, and north-east of the regional capital Wrocław. Between 1663 and 1928 it had town rights. During World War II, from 1940 to 1942, the Germans operated the Oflag VIII-C prisoner-of-war camp for French, Belgian and Dutch officers and orderlies in the village.
