Ľudovít Štúr Square
Ľudovít Štúr Square is a square in the Old Town, Bratislava, Old Town district of Bratislava. It is named after Ľudovít Štúr (1815 – 1856), a Slovak national awakener. Until 1918 it had the German language, German and Hungarian language, Hungarian names ''Krönungs-hügel-Platz'' and ''Koronázási Domb-tér'', meaning ''Coronation Hill Square''. It is located near the Danube embankment, between Mostova Street, Rázus Embankment and Vajanského Embankment. Among the important buildings are the headquarters of the Slovak Philharmonic Reduta, Esterházy Palace (Bratislava), Esterházy Palace and Dežőfi Palace. Transport connection * Square. Ľ. Town Square
A town square (or public square, urban square, city square or simply square), also called a plaza or piazza, is an open public space commonly found in the heart of a traditional town or city, and which is used for community gatherings. Related concepts are the civic center, the market square and the village green. Most squares are hardscapes suitable for open market (place), markets, concerts, political rallies, and other events that require firm ground.
