Ä°stiklal, Seyhan
Ä°stiklal is a historical neighbourhood (''mahalle'') in the Seyhan district of Adana Province, and has a of population is 6,137 (2022). The neighbourhood is at the west end of the old town of Adana, situated south of the State road D400 (Turkey), D400 state road and east of the Adana Metro line. Ä°stiklal is the former Greek neighborhood of Adana, that developed around the Adana Railway Station, first railway station that had opened in 1886 and led to the expansion of the city to the west. Textile businessmen, mostly of Greek ethnicity, moved to the city, opened textile factories and built houses in the neighborhood. Seyhan
Seyhan is a Districts of Turkey, district-municipality in the Adana Province of Turkey. Its area is 444 km2, and its population is 795,012 (2022). It forms the core of the Adana urban area. Seyhan is home to 35 percent of the residents of Adana Province and almost half of the residents of the city of Adana. It is the fifth most populous metropolitan district in Turkey. Adana Metro
Adana Metro () is a rail rapid transit system extending along a north–south corridor through Adana, with 13 stations. It can transport 21,600 passengers per hour per direction. The total travel time on the metro, end to end, takes 21 minutes, including all stops. History The rapid transit system for Adana was initiated in 1988 after requests from the mayor Aytaç Durak and the Çukurova University rector Mithat Özsan to the Ministry of Transportation. A feasibility report was completed on May 30, 1990, by the consortium of PMBI A.Ş. and Brinckerkoff Int.Inc. A muhtar is the elected village head in villages of Turkey and in villages of Northern Cyprus, the Turkish occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus.
