Istanbul is a Provinces of Turkey, Turkish province divided into three electoral districts of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It elects ninety-eight members of parliament (deputies) to represent the Istanbul Province, province of the same name for a five-year term by the D'Hondt method, a party-list proportional representation system. The Istanbul (1st electoral district), first district is situated on the Anatolian side of İstanbul on the east of the Bosphorus. The Istanbul (2nd electoral district), second and Istanbul (3rd electoral district), third electoral district are both on the European side, with the third situated to the west of the second. The first and third districts, electing 35 MPs, are the largest electoral districts of Turkey in terms of members elected. Istanbul (1st Electoral District)
Istanbul's first electoral district is one of three divisions of the Istanbul electoral district for the purpose of elections to Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It elects thirty-five members of parliament (deputies) to represent the district for a five-year term by the D'Hondt method, a party-list proportional representation system. The district covers the entire Anatolian side of the Istanbul Province, on the east of the Bosphorus. Currently, one seat is vacant because of the death of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of The Grand National Assembly from DEM Party. Çekmeköy
Çekmeköy is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 152 km2, and its population is 296,066 (2022). It is on the Asian side of Istanbul. In 2008 the district Çekmeköy was created from part of the district Ümraniye, including the former municipalities Çekmeköy, TaÅŸdelen, AlemdaÄŸ and Ömerli. The urban part of the new district, 17 neighbourhoods, was established as a municipality. At the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation, the rural part of the district was integrated into the municipality, the villages becoming neighbourhoods. Its first mayor, Ahmet Poyraz, was elected in the 2009 Turkish local elections from ( AKP).
