Ä°ncesu, Kayseri
Ä°ncesu is a municipality and district of Kayseri Province, Turkey. Its area is 874 km2, and its population is 29,120 (2022). The mayor is Mustafa Ä°lmek ( AKP). It has been identified with the ancient town ''Sadogora'' or ''Sadacora''. History At the beginning of the 20th century, Greeks still formed part of the population of Ä°ncesu. Most of them went with the Turkish-Greek Population Exchange. There is the Kara Mustafa Pasha Caravanserai built by Kara Mustafa Pasha in 1660 in Ä°ncesu. In 2021, archaeologists discovered late Roman and early Byzantine houses, with inscriptions and mosaics. Kayseri Province
The Kayseri Province () is a province and metropolitan municipality in central Turkey. Its area is 16,970 km2, and its population is 1,441,523 (2022). It borders with Sivas, Adana, NiÄŸde, KahramanmaraÅŸ, Yozgat and NevÅŸehir provinces. The province is an area that has been linked with mythological stories as well as important figures in Turkish history. Population Exchange Between Greece And Turkey
The 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey stemmed from the "Convention Concerning the Exchange of Greek and Turkish Populations" signed at Lausanne, Switzerland, on 30 January 1923, by the governments of Greece and Turkey. It involved at least 1.6 million people (1,221,489 Greek Orthodox from Asia Minor, Eastern Thrace, the Pontic Alps and the Caucasus, and 355,000–400,000 Muslims from Greece), most of whom were forcibly made refugees and ''de jure'' denaturalized from their homelands. Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha
Kara Mustafa Pasha (; ; "Mustafa Pasha the Courageous"; 1634/1635 – 25 December 1683) was an Ottoman nobleman, military figure and Grand Vizier, who was a central character in the Ottoman Empire's last attempts at expansion into both Central and Eastern Europe. Early life and career Kara Mustafa Pasha was of Turkish origin. However, he was brought up in the Köprülü family, of Albanian origin.
